Scott Pilgrim: Epic Epicness

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is seriously full of non-stop action. And although the action scenes are entertaining and probably more creative than fight scenes in big action thrillers, the best part about Scott Pilgrim is, well...Scott Pilgrim.

Scott (Michael Cera) is some 22-year-old quirky guy who plays bass in a somewhat good band called Sex Bob-Omb. He meets this girl Ramona, who is not from Canada (like everyone else in the movie), and eventually learns that he has to defeat her 7 evil exes to be with her. The plot may sound silly, but the movie is done so well that it all makes so much sense. It's silly but in all the best ways.

A great performance by Kieran Culkin (yes, Macaulay's younger brother), onomonopias that keep with the comic-book theme, and awkward jokes all make up the wonderful supporting cast of this film.

i.e.
Todd Ingram (played by Brandon Routh--you know, the guy who played Superman a few years ago): Talk to the cleaning lady on Monday. Because you'll be dust by Monday. Because you'll be pulverized in two seconds. The cleaning lady? She cleans up... dust. She dusts.

Go see this movie and make your own judgment. It's probably going to be better than a lot of the other crap out in the movie world recently. I even Scott Pilgrim'd myself:

  1. The movie was so much better than i was expecting. The humor was so subtle but probably the funniest movie of the year; although the Other Guys was pretty was pretty close.
