Dressed to Impress: The Emmy*s

Here are some of my best dressed from the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards:
I couldn't get every dress I liked up here, so these are just some of my faves--but feel free to let me know who you liked if they are not on my list.

My favorite of the night!

Heidi Klum in Marchesa
yes Mimi, she looks awesome!

My not-so-best dressed:

Didn't like Lea Michele's dress at first but it grew on me.

Saw Lauren Graham's dress a second time and liked it more.

Totally fell in love with Maria Menounos' dress at first sight!

Jon Hamm was not the only well-dressed man. I liked Ryan Murphy's look too.

Who were your best (and worst) dressed?

Inspiring Style: JT Does Tar-Jay

And the hits keep coming. Following in the footsteps of greats like Rodarte, Gaultier and Zac Posen to name a few, Justin Timberlake is set to release a line for Target from his William Rast collection.

The collection is slated to be released December 19--just in time for the holidays. As far as I know, many people really like JT. He can sing; he can dance; he's not a bad actor; and he's super hilarious. I know everyone's seen his numerous SNL skits. And he'll be in a few movies in the next couple of years, including that little Facebook movie next month.

The Social Network

But back to the fashion: I think he's a good dresser, but I haven't really seen much of his William Rast line. The William Rast line for Target will feature denim, outerwear and sportswear for both men and women. It'll probably include a lot of leather jackets, tailored blazers, and everything from skinny to flared denim.

These photos are taken from previous collections as there aren't any photos of the WR for Target line just yet. I am hearing that it may be a bit pricey for Target though, but I guess we'll just have to wait a few more months to find out.

So what do you think of this collaboration? Will you be interested? How do you feel about celebrities becoming fashion designers?

And have you seen the H&M fall 2010 collection? Here are some pieces.

Makeup & Muses: Bright Shadows

Hey muses! I went to a Fashion Industry Insiders event the other night and it was very informative. I met a lot of people like designers, models, stylists, publicists, and makeup artists. I would recommend that you all see if there is something like this in your area because it would be great for fashion networking.

Anyhoo, one of the makeup artists I met told me that I had great eyes and they would be great for color experimentation, i.e., bright eyeshadows. I don't really mess with bright shadows but that's because I don't know the first thing about bright makeup. But I hope you ladies are more adventurous than I am.
ARE YOU?

I think one day I will give it a try, but for now I'll just get inspired by these photos.

This is what the sky looked like outside my window.
And I think these eyeshadows are reminiscent of the sky:
Now I just have to figure out how to keep my bright eye makeup looking like the above photos and not like the one below. Seems like a fine line.

Sign up here on September 1 for a chance to win these!

Scott Pilgrim: Epic Epicness

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is seriously full of non-stop action. And although the action scenes are entertaining and probably more creative than fight scenes in big action thrillers, the best part about Scott Pilgrim is, well...Scott Pilgrim.

Scott (Michael Cera) is some 22-year-old quirky guy who plays bass in a somewhat good band called Sex Bob-Omb. He meets this girl Ramona, who is not from Canada (like everyone else in the movie), and eventually learns that he has to defeat her 7 evil exes to be with her. The plot may sound silly, but the movie is done so well that it all makes so much sense. It's silly but in all the best ways.

A great performance by Kieran Culkin (yes, Macaulay's younger brother), onomonopias that keep with the comic-book theme, and awkward jokes all make up the wonderful supporting cast of this film.

i.e.
Todd Ingram (played by Brandon Routh--you know, the guy who played Superman a few years ago): Talk to the cleaning lady on Monday. Because you'll be dust by Monday. Because you'll be pulverized in two seconds. The cleaning lady? She cleans up... dust. She dusts.

Go see this movie and make your own judgment. It's probably going to be better than a lot of the other crap out in the movie world recently. I even Scott Pilgrim'd myself:

And you can do the same here:
