Makeup and Muses: To Tint or Not to Tint

So I have a few things up my sleeve that I am very excited about. All I have to do is put one foot in front of the other and get the ball rolling. These are things that I've been working on for a long time now, but I just have to take some time to get things done. I'm using the expertise of the hubs to help me with these endeavors so hopefully, you will see the fruits of my labor really soon!

Now it's time for a makeup and muses post all about tinted moisturizers, foundations and minerals. Yay!
What type of face makeup are you into?
It seems like face makeup has recently become the bane of my existence. I didn't start wearing makeup until some time in high school. I would wear whatever my mom had, which was pretty much just some powder. She's not really a makeup girl. I only wore it on Friday and Saturday nights because they were the most interesting days (and maybe still are) in high school. Generally, I didn't wear much makeup in college either.
I got into foundations because I was looking into makeup that could cover blemishes and faults. But then I heard about tinted moisturizers and realized that, although they don't hide imperfections as well, they still provide great coverage. And just recently, I introduced myself to mineral foundation, which pretty much takes the cake. It doesn't feel like makeup; it doesn't crease like makeup; but it covers like makeup.

So currently, I tend to go back and forth between tinted moisturizers and liquid foundations, but that's really just because I am all out of the mineral stuff. I might end up getting more from the Lumiere brand that I featured in a Makeup and Muses post about a year ago.

And by the way, this entire month you can get 10% off at Sigma Beauty ~ Just use the code SB2012!

What brand do you wear?

  2. I usually opt for some sunscreen layered under a BB cream these days and occasionally some foundation, although I try to stay away from it because it always feels so heavy on my skin.

  3. Well, I'm excited to see what you've been hiding up your sleeve. Are they bracelets?

Tinted moisturizer usually doesn't do it for me. I've been pretty stuck on Iman's Second to None powder foundation for a while now. Her makeup line specializes in women of color, from Asians to Black women who may have difficult skin tones to match. It's the only foundation I've ever found that actually matches my skin.

Might try mineral makeup one of these days though.

  5. I am into foundatins. Why? Because not all foundations have th same finish. There are dewy, mate, semi matte, full coverage, med coverage. They can be thinned out with Fix + or mixed with moisturizer if you want the tinted moitsurizer without buying another one. Another reason I love foundations is that they fill in the pores and have longer lasting.

  8. i am more into using mineral powders than foundations, sometimes i find that foundations are a bit too heavy especially during summer. maybe when winter comes i'd be able to use my foundation again. i also really want to get a tinted moisturizer. :D

  10. I'm a MAC girl all the way! The product I use depends on the type of coverage I am needing for the moment. My favorite MAC product is their studio fix foundation (you can determine the amount of coverage you'd like) + sheer pressed powder. There is also a studio fix foundation and powder combo which works well too!

  11. I think I use tinted moisturising items most, because they were the first ones that was closet to my skin tone. I love it and it's light! Good luck on the new ventures. I'm sure you will do well with whatever it is. Happy weekend!

  12. I have always been curious about tinted moisturizers but nervous about them since I have oily skin. I rarely wear foundation, but I love makeup forever foundation.

  14. I like liquid foundation. I wear Arbonne. I don't wear tinted moisturizers b/c I don't need tint everywhere, but I need lotion and SPF everywhere. Then, I finish with a swipe of powder from Bare Escentuals.
