Lookbook: Romp in the Spring

You have already seen a glimmer of this look back in the Nails of the Day: Sally Hansen Love Letter post. This is what I wore to go to the city for dinner and drinks.

We walked around San Francisco not really knowing where to stuff our faces because, turns out, every place in the city requires a reservation on a Saturday night. Excuse me for expecting my sheer presence to be reservation enough...BCBG Romper-1
BCBG Romper-2We ended up eating at Limon on Valencia Street where I got drunk on macaroni & cheese in truffle sauce, empanadas, tacu tacu and sangria. Afterward we got some wine at Etcetera Wine Bar and did some people watching. The people on the streets of San Francisco are worth watching. It's an interesting place.BCBG Romper-3♥ BCBG romper ♥ F21 belt & leaf cuff ♥ Filthy Magic ring ♥ Pirate Romance necklace ♥ Dolce Vita heels ♥

Spring is finally here and summer is just around that corner, and that can only mean one thing: showing some skin. With a wide range of strapless, bodycon and maxis, there is a dress out there for everyone at any occasion.

Take some inspiration from some of the UK's biggest style icons to get the A-list look of the season at an affordable price.

Nails of the Day: Sally Hansen Love Letter

Sally Hansen Love Letter nailsToday's post is all about the nails. Saturday I had plans to go see a movie and then meet up with some friends for dinner and drinks in the city. But I had spent a lot of my Saturday morning lounging around and doing absolutely nothing except letting time go by.

So when it was time to get ready I realized that my nails looked like garbage, but I didn't really have time to do the whole process. Luckily, I remembered that I had these awesome Sally Hansen Salon Effects Love Letter nail polish strips (what a mouthful).Sally Hansen Love Letter nail stripsIf you've used nail strips before, then you know how easy they are to apply, and it takes only a few minutes. When I first put these on I wasn't sure I would like them, but after I got dressed it all started to come together.Love Letter Sally Hansen~~~
Almost forgot to talk about Sunday.
Sunday I went to this "day spa," and I put it in quotes because that's how I would describe it to you if we were talking face to face. You pay for a room that includes a shower, a sauna and a hot tub. It was the weirdest thing. I went because I really needed a sauna and a relaxing hot tub, but I couldn't help feeling like a sketchy sleeze-slut going in there. I think I might have been in a DL brothel. But the sauna was fantastic so I can't complain.

Inspiring Style: The Muse on Pinterest

Because pinning is winning, for this inspiring style post I'm showcasing some of my pins from my boards on Pinterest.

I really do enjoy being able to bookmark random things that I enjoy, even though I'm not one of those people who has hundreds of boards with millions of pins. But I do what I can.

Here is what I've been pinning lately! Feel free to follow me on Pinterest.
Oh to Be a Muse PinterestBoards worth mentioning...
Sweet Tooth: Images of desserts that I've found on Google and Fab. My fave dessert is a warm cookie covered in vanilla ice cream and caramel glaze.
Hair Story: Various natural hair styles, cool frohawks and Katniss-inspired braids.Pinterest Hair Story
Arm Candy: Who doesn't love a great arm party? Although I love silver, I really adore seeing a cluster of gold bracelets and bangles.
Favorite Places & Spaces: Random pictures from the Internet of shoe closets, bookshelves, desks and summer escapes. Makes me want to sit in a bright pink chair with all my shoes laid out on my desk before I head off on a boat ride down the inter coastal.Pinterest Arm Party
Nail Love: Featuring some nails of the day from me and also a few nail DIY styles that I'd like to try out. Honestly, I just don't have the patience for constant nail DIYs, so I definitely pick and choose my battles.
Runway Inspiration: Based on this board, I seem to be inspired by Elie Saab, Avant and anything peplum. I would think that sums it up quite nicely...and fashionably.Pinterest Nails

Discarded to Divine Blogger Preview

Back in March I went to this Discarded to Divine blogger preview in San Francisco. Discarded to Divine is where designers take leftover, discarded and donated clothing and turn them into fashionable pieces.

The fashion forward crowd and bloggers alike were invited to this preview event in San Fran to see some of the pieces that would later be featured in the actual gala and auction later this month.

I was so happy that I was able to attend because I found a ton of wonderful and creative fashions and furniture by some local designers. Also, it gave me an excuse to wear my peplum dress that I got for my birthday.

Here are some pics from the event:
(sorry, took these with my phone, not my awesome camera)Wearing: Asos peplum dress ~ La Mer wrap watch
Designer: Sultana Lodin ~ Design: "Kaftan of Honor"
Designer: Tricia Brooks ~ Design: "Damask Cape"Designer: Stephen Kladder ~ Design: "Passing Glances"
Loved this table in the front that is designed with sketches of faces.
Designer: Diane O. ~ Design: "Chimera Chordata"Designer: Olga Shor ~ Design: "Waterloo"

These pieces come from thrown away items that people don't want anymore, and these designers turn them into brilliant pieces of art.

If you happen to be in the San Fran area then get your tickets to the actual Discarded to Divine gala and auction Thursday, April 26 at 7pm at the SF Design Center!

Lookbook: Color Me Spring

I apologize in advance for this post being photo heavy, but I couldn't help myself. It's actually starting to look like spring in these parts. People here in California were losing their minds about the thunderstorms that occurred the other day. But I'm from Florida, so thunderbolts and lightning are pretty passe. But April showers brought...April cherry blossoms!
I used a lot of different photo effects in this post because Picasa has new features that I find to be pretty awesome.

This is what I wore to go to a BBQ at a friend's house. I ate some lentil appetizer and drank Moscato. I've definitely become a fan of white wines.

I used the belt from the top and tied it around my neck for more of a scarf-tie look. This top has small studs on it (hope you can see) that add to the sparkle factor.
Accessories for the day: "I Read Banned Books" bracelet from Fab.com, talon cuff and ring from eBay, Michael Kors sunnies.

Makeup and Muses: Spring Beauty Must-Haves

Now that spring is starting to show itself in many parts of the country, I figured it was about time that I mentioned some good beauty buys for the season. Some great spring beauty must-haves include makeup for your face and treatments for your hair.

For this makeup and muses post, I'll tell you about some of my best picks from the beauty supplies at Image Beauty and you'll let me know which are your favorites!Wear the Heat Rush Spray by Beyonce at a fraction of the retail price for a scent that is exotic, fruity and floral.
The Too Faced Glamour Dust Pink Fire is a loose pigment powder that gives you both an ethereal and glittery look.Everyone seems to be obsessed with keratin these days, so this Keratin Express Daily Keratin Treatment should be just what the doctor ordered. It's great for frizz control, repelling humidity, and of course, it can be used every day.

If you suffer from dry skin like me, then the Murad Vitalic Pomegranate Moisturizer should be your best friend. The SPF 15 moisturizer is lightweight, oil-free, and has antioxidants to shield your skin from the elements.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Cover Girl Outlast Lipstick in Blossom Berry. This cosmetic isn't new to the makeup game, so you can be sure that you're getting your money's worth with this 16-hour long lasting shade with a moisturizing topcoat!

Featured Fashionista ~ Francesca

Featured Fashionista

Francesca from Italy
What I love most about Francesca's style is that it's always well put together with a touch of added sparkle. She makes her outfits pop with a dash of vibrant color, a hint of animal print, or a signature Celine bag! Plus, she's super sweet and has a feathered hair flow that reminds me of Farrah Fawcett.

What do you think of Francesca's look?

Just Jen: I Blog, Therefore I Am

Let's talk about Just Jen.

Just Jen is a custom T-shirt store that allows you to design your own shirt by style, color, writing and rhinestones. You can even have custom hoodies and sweat pants to say whatever your heart desires.

You can either pick something that is already designed on the site:
Or you can design something for yourself:
Of course, being the creative being that I am, I decided that I wanted to customize my own T-shirt. Shirt styles range from tank top and polo to fitted shirts. I chose a cotton spandex long-sleeve in black.

The next step is creating the design where you can choose the saying you want, the text style and the rhinestone color.

For my shirt, I added text on both the front and the back and decided to go with this:"I Blog, Therefore I Am" is written on the front and my blog URL is on the back.
How cool is that?

So visit Just Jen and customize your own blog shirt or anything that your heart desires. It would definitely make for a great gift or a great way to show your blog love.

Here is a list of a few coupon codes that you can use toward the site!

Happy Passover & Easter!

Lookbook: Little Lace Riding Hood

The weather in March was driving me insane. One week was beautiful and sunny, and the next week was cold and rainy. But I believe April will bring in a long-awaited spring, don't you think? This is before I went for a wine and cheese lunch at the Mountain Winery. The wine was decent, but the bartender was cool and the venue was very pretty, so I will most likely find myself heading back there in the summer when they play concerts.(btw, freezing my ass off without the hooded cardi...the things we do for outfit posts)These are the Steve Madden booties that I mentioned in my Bridging the Gap outfit post. They started at a price of $190 but I got them for $40 from DSW. True story, bro. These photos were taken on a trail, and I thought the grittiness of the trail would work well with this outfit. I realize that if you go through my lookbook posts on the Muse, I don't think you'd be able to really classify my style. That's probably because I like a bit of everything.

My motto with clothes: If it looks good on me, then I'll rock it.
It really doesn't matter if it's polka dots, cut outs, dresses, high-low skirts or wedges.
So happy I finally got a La Mer watch! I've wanted one for a long time now.

Gifted hooded wrap cardigan ~ Foreign Exchange top ~ Go Jane lace pants ~ Steve Madden booties ~ La Mer wrap watch ~ Starfish cuff ~ Filthy Magic ring & shoulder chain

*fyi: this top is one of the only things I actually liked from Foreign Exchange. I was pretty disappointed with the fabric once the clothing I ordered arrived. So if you ever see me partnering with Foreign Exchange on the Muse, then you'll know that I've officially sold out. But don't worry because homie don't play that.
