The 24 Designers of Christmas

UPDATE: The Target & Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection is now on sale both online and in stores. Did you get anything? I used @TargetStyle last night to check when the items went on sale. Everything went live around 10:30 PM PST, and I was able to get the three main pieces I wanted:
The collaboration comes to us from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, or CFDA, which is a non-profit organization that furthers the recognition of U.S. fashion designers. With it being the 50th anniversary of the CFDA, what better way to celebrate than to offer 50 different holiday gifts from 24 notable fashion designers between 2 great stores.

THE DESIGNERS♥ Alice + Olivia ♥ Altuzarra ♥ Band of Outsiders ♥ Brian Atwood ♥ Carolina Herrera ♥ Derek Lam ♥ DVF ♥ Eddie Borgo ♥ Jason Wu ♥ Judith Leiber ♥ Lela Rose ♥ Marc Jacobs ♥ Marchesa ♥ Oscar de la Renta ♥ Philip Crangi ♥ Prabal Gurung ♥ Proenza Schouler ♥ Rag & Bone ♥ Robert Rodriguez ♥ Rodarte ♥ Skaist-Taylor ♥ Thom Browne ♥ Tory Burch ♥ Tracy Reese ♥

I'm so happy about the list of designers in this collab. My only qualm is that the Marchesa ladies only designed dresses for little girls...little dresses that I could never fit in no matter how much I tried.

THE GIFTSThe most expensive item is the $500 bike and some of the least expensive pieces are the $20 Carolina Herrera stationary set and the $8 Rag & Bone wrapping paper. Some of my favorite gifts that will probably sell fast:

Alice + Olivia bike ~ Brian Atwood sunglasses ~ Lela Rose guipure lace top
Oscar de la Renta tote ~ Prabal Gurung cape ~ Rag & bone shot glasses ~ Robert Rodriguez top and dress ~ Rodarte wrapping paper
Isn't it great that there are so many options--from clothing to home goods--from so many different design styles? And you can choose to shop at Neiman Marcus, Target or either store online.

Please tell me that you'll be doing some holiday shopping from one of these 24 designers this weekend?

P.S. Head on over to the Neiman website for a chance to win the ENTIRE collection! That's $5,000 worth of 51 items that work for you, for him, for little ones, for pup-stars and for the home.

Photo Review: Thanksgiving Wedding at Grahall Castle

For a few days last week I was away at a wedding over Thanksgiving in New England. We flew into Boston and then drove through New Hampshire to the Grahall Estate in Vermont. The house is built like a modern-day castle. Time for some turkey day celebrations!The hubs with his cousins and uncle at the dinner table.~~~
After the turkey we spent the next day decorating the place for the wedding. The hubs' uncle was getting married, and we had both the ceremony and the reception at the estate. The theme was "Fall in Love" hence all the fall decorations.How cute is that cake? The sugar leaves are edible. L: Flower girl and bride's niece ~ R: Custom-made bow-tie on the groomL: Me and the hubs ~ R: The groom and his sistersHow pretty is this bridal party? And that dress was fab. Can you believe it was only $75 at a consignment shop...and no alterations either.

Wow! Can I just say that my camera takes some grade A photos.

Inspiring Style: Cyber Monday

Happy Monday, Muses! I am finally back from vacation, which means I'll be getting to your blogs later today. If you follow me on Instagram (Ohtobeamuse) then you might have known that I spent the long weekend enjoying turkey day at a wedding in New England.

The hardest thing about the weekend? Dealing with the change of time zones. I think I slept for like 12 hours on Sunday, while getting up only to eat, watch football and The Walking Dead.

But now I'm back in time to give you a list of some of my favorite shopping deals for Cyber Monday. The funny thing is, I'm not very into getting geared up, waiting in lines and shopping for deals at the mall. That's just not my thing. But if I can find a few good online shopping deals, then why not share them with you!

Items shown are my personal picks.
Shop Tobi today to get 40% off site wide. I like to shop this site for their fashionable tops and interesting leggings. Use code GOBBLE40 for the discount!
Use code CYBER today to get 40% off sale items at Lulus. This site always has good deals on dresses, and even some great branded options as well.
Peek Brooklyn is one of my favorite sites for buying tights, and Cyber Monday is no exception. Use code CYBER for 30% off a large selection of tights from Jonathan Aston, Henry Holland and more.

Put a spin on the typical deal like Coterie did by offering a random drawing giveaway to Cyber Monday shoppers.
Not only do you get 15% off when you shop online, but you also get an extra 30% off when you shop sale items.

The added free shipping on every order for one day only is just a great bonus. Use the code and shop Aldo for the deals!

What's so cool about the In Pink Cyber Monday deal? You get 30% off your order plus a $15 credit to use toward another purchase.
What other shopping sites do you like for deals?

Guest Post: Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration

While I am away at a wedding in New England, we are celebrating yet another turkey day here on the Muse with help from Brooke of Belts and Bangles.

Brooke is here to showcase an easy, go-to look for Thanksgiving to any of you muses can try if you're looking for something chic and comfortable, or just need some style inspiration.
~~~
Hello readers of Oh to Be a Muse! Every Thanksgiving I look forward to the delicious food that I'll be consuming: the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, candied yams, and even the green bean casserole. But more importantly than that, I think about what I can comfortably wear from day to night, especially after a big, loving meal with family and friends.1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 ♥
While I know it would be easy to consider throwing on a pair of big, baggy sweatpants, this year, I'm opting for something a little more fashion focus--and you can too.
I do think it's possible to achieve the satisfaction from both a big meal and a stylish look all in one day, and I think this outfit set will lay the foundation to do just that!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Lookbook: Comedy Shows, Winos & Pumped Up Kicks
What a full weekend. The hubs and I went to see Skyfall, and we liked it. Although, I'm pretty sure I liked it more than he did, even though I did think it dragged a bit. Javier Bardem makes for an ideal villain.
I also did some shopping and bought this entire outfit. My goal when I went shopping was to buy some colored or patterned trousers like I mentioned in my On My Mind post; but instead, I ended up with everything but trousers. And I didn't get anything from their Hello Kitty collection, if you're wondering. But don't you just hate when you see something you like on one of those mannequins but you can't find it anywhere in the store?♥ Bead show necklace ♥ F21 abstract print top ♥ F21 olive denim pants ♥ Vera Wang sneaker wedges ♥ Mesh chain link bracelet c/o InPink giveaway ♥
These sneaker wedges made all the walking I did on Saturday much easier. Glad I chose to wear them instead of heels, especially since it would rain on and off. They're a good alternative to boots.
The rest of the weekend was spent at this ski and board festival called Snowbomb where they were giving out free lift tickets and hotel stays at Tahoe. Oh, yea...and free wine tastings at the actual event. You might have seen my Instagram pic sipping on some awesome pink Sangria.
Then a bunch of us had some dinner and went to a free comedy show. Comedy shows make me a bit uneasy because I tend to feel really uncomfortable when comedians bomb. But there were some pretty funny comics there too, so it wasn't that bad.
How did you spend your weekend and what do you think of this look?
Designer Collaborations for H&M, Target & Neiman Marcus
The holiday season is upon us, which means spending time with family, keeping up with traditions and shopping your hard earned money away.
And thanks to H&M, Christmas comes a bit early this year if you're into their new designer collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela. Warning, Margiela is not the typical fashion brand, and the line for H&M stands by that point.
Some might be a bit afraid of these looks, while others will flock to them like binders full of women. But that all depends on your taste, as these pieces will be available in 230 H&M stores and online starting Nov. 15!
Makes Me Smile
Makes My Eyebrows Raise
Pour Les Hommes~~~
If this collab doesn't float your boat, then you might take interest in the Target & Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection that teamed up with 24 CFDA designers to sell a range of items in both stores and online starting Dec. 1.
Prices range from $8 to $500 and include clothing and pieces for the home by designers like Alice + Olivia, Brian Atwood, Derek Lam, DVF, Marchesa and more.
And since this is the season of giving, Target and Neiman are donating $1M to the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
What Caught My Eye
Do you plan to shop any of these designer collaborations this holiday season?
Lookbook: Haute House Warming
Brrr...what a cold weekend we had, especially on Saturday with a high of 57. Fortunately, I had this knit sweater, the beanie and some shearling to keep me warm.
This is what I wore to host a house warming party at my new place. You've probably seen some pics of the living room decor in this inspiring style post. The blue accent wall was a hit and so were the specially made Ciroc-Obama drinks.
Want to know how to have a successful get together at your home?
1. Good drinks
2. Chill tunes
3. Yummy appetizers
4. Great conversations♥ Nasty Gal shoreline knit ♥ Garden necklace c/o AliExpress ♥ F21 jeans ♥ Charlotte Russe shearling booties ♥ Crystal slim bangle c/o AliExpressThrowing or attending any house parties over the holidays?
And can I just say, I am enjoying the fall and all, but can a girl get another 30 minutes of daylight to work with please?
Inspiring Style: For the Home
Moving isn't much fun. I recently moved just a few miles away from my old place, and although I like the new place and area, the moving part is something I never want to do again. The best thing about moving is re-organizing your space and decorating. So I've been looking at a lot of rooms lately and adding my inspiration to my For the Home board on Pinterest.
Here are a few home styles that have inspired me during this move.Bedrooms ~ What I love most about bedrooms is minimalism with a touch of elegance. If I had it all my way, I would have wood or concrete floors, a nice rug, a platform bed and a lot of natural light.
Closets ~ What girl doesn't love a big closet?
Even if you don't have all the space for a very big closet, the best way to make that room appear bigger is by organizing it by color, season or item.
Living Rooms ~ My mom is the type of person who loves a good living room set, especially if it comes with a hutch of some sort.
Maybe it's a Jamaican thing...not sure. But for me, that's a bit too matchy-matchy. I'm a sucker for unique pieces, color and cool bookshelves.
My favorite things about this first living room are the colored drapes, the tall branches, and the two white chairs off to the side.
How can you not like a bookshelf focal piece? I really like all the angles, the shelving, and even the white space in this living room set.
Cool light fixtures are great additions as well.
And I'm not really a fan of the color green all that much, but there is just something about this last living room set that I love so much.
The green accent wall along with the green soft against the white and black furniture is spot on.
I wanted to include photos of my own place for this post, and I was able to get this wall painted just in time.
How do you feel about living room, bedroom and closet designs for the home?
Makeup and Muses: What's My Masque-Rade
I've been using the Eminence Pink Grapefruit Clarifying Masque for about a week and a half now. I got it from Apothica because I've used Eminence products before in a Makeup and Muses post with good results.
I picked the organic grapefruit masque because the product description used the phrase "under siege by blemishes" and that's exactly how I was feeling a few weeks ago. I really couldn't catch a break...only a breakout.The Eminence Pink Grapefruit Clarifying Masque is said to detoxify your skin with the grapefruit and biocomplex ingredients (whatever that means). Well it means the ingredients should brighten the blemishes and protect against free radicals through vitamins A, C and E. Kaolin Clay is what's used to exfoliate the skin, and it's great for dry, sensitive me.
1. Cleanse your face and dry it
2. Apply a thin layer of the masque
3. Leave it on for about 5 minutes
4. Remove after the allotted time with a damp cloth
Pros
♥ Satisfying scent
♥ Easy to apply
♥ Cool flecks in the clay
♥ Option to wear like a masque or leave on like a moisturizer
Cons
♥ A slight tingling when initially applied
♥ Haven't seen as much of an improvement as expected
Although I do like this Eminence product a lot, I haven't really seen those biocomplex ingredients kick in just yet. I do feel like it exfoliates and leaves my skin feeling smooth, so I will keep using it for a few more weeks to hopefully see better results.
Have you used Eminence products before, or any clay masques?
