Musings of a Muse - Part 1

I'm a mess.

Every day I wake up with a ton of dog fur in my hair--even though I wear a satin scarf to cover it, and I don't think I snuggle in my dog's belly. But it doesn't matter. She has a way of getting her tan colored fur in my dark brown hair and having it wrapped perfectly around my flat twists. She is a master of furdom.

Another 365 days pass, and another this is the year gets broken.

This is the year that I start working out three days a week consistently quickly becomes this is the year that I won't give a shit about stereotypical body types for women.

This is the year when I will only buy clothing items that I really need quickly turns into this is the year that I have to take advantage of all things sale.

If I've gained a few lbs over the year, like 4 5 6 or so, then I just say who cares? I can still fit into all of my clothes, which happen to be size small or size 4 (or size 6 in certain brands, but that's not because of my weight--that's because they don't know how to size for girls with asses).

If I've gained a few lbs and I find a particular pair of pants that I can no longer fit in, then it becomes--fuck it. I never liked those pants any way. Oh, and I'll curse more often on this blog because, oddly enough, I curse in real life.

I don't wear heels every day. Who does that? I don't wear makeup every day. How time consuming! I don't put on pants until I absolutely have to. Otherwise, it's a total jammy party in my house. Yay, jammies!

By the way, my blog turned 5 some time this month. How I've managed to blog for 5 years is beyond me. That shit is cray. Happy weekend, muses! | Vintage jacket from grandma-in-law | Robert Rodriguez for Target top |
We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller
We say to girls: "You can have ambition, but not too much"
We raise girls to see each other as competitors
Not for jobs or for accomplishments...but for the attention of men
We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings in the way that boys are

And economic equality of the sexes.

  1. Superb doll :) I have begun exercise, but because I was feeling sluggish and it's helped to give some energy, but also help me sleep better at night. Half the time, I don't even brush my hair, haha. Having curls helps me to get away with it easier. If I gain weight, oh well. I never wear heels, I can't walk in them. I don't wear make-up every day either or my skin would be wrecked. Happy Birthday to your blog too, I hope it has many more years as well :)) It's good to see more of these 'real' type posts on blogs lately!! Have a wonderful weekend doll x

  4. Happy birthday to the blog and well done for all your hard work.
The honesty of this post is what make it inspirational.
Every girl should make their own choices of happiness and not allow the society's norms get to them.

  10. Haha, I looove that song too! Yeah, the only time I actually wear heel is usually for work, but when travelling or a relaxing weekend? I know better! Lately it's been so cold that I just dash a bold lippie on and go bare faced on crazy days. Happy blog birthday to you, may you have many more fab blog years to come! /Madison

  19. You look amazing in those pics, love the furry jacket and loved to read your honest post ! It's so true, so many times our resolutions turn into something else ! 5 years of blogging is a lot of time, congratulations ! Also for having such an original spot on the web, where you really get people to listen to your true voice. Sadly, so many blogs looks all like the same. Yours is always worth reading. I hope in 2014 we all find a way to accept who we are, this is surely better than any resolution we might have made. Kisses

Every year is an opportunity to be a better you always.

Who cares if we have to size up because our butts are too big, people would kill for that problem!
