Musings of a Muse - Part 2

People always need to find something to hate on. They are drawn to negativity, especially when it's wrapped in self-righteousness. I've come to learn that pretty much any time someone does something nice, there will always be someone else out there who believes there is an ulterior motive.

And, of course, some of us will believe that to be so and start questioning positive actions as well. But soon, hopefully, we will realize that some people are just assholes who can't be happy until other people are as piss poor and melancholy as they are.

I believe in standing up for injustices, but I think some people are just trying to soapbox on their high horse and truly forget what it is that they are supposedly standing up for. Stop wasting precious moments in your short life on Twitter rambling about silly infractions that will be forgotten next month. No one gives a shit. And I love hearing various opinions--debates are welcomed and necessary, but be sure that what you're debating is worth the time it takes to get your point across.

P.S. Have you heard the Lana Del Rey version of Once Upon a Dream for the Maleficent movie? It's eerie, somber and perfection.

And if you're looking for some Valentine's Day inspiration, check out my Valentine's Day Gift Guide to get the ball rolling. Song of the moment: Video Games by Lana Del Rey.

  1. I agree. People do love an argument or debate or a moan. I always keep in my head 'If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything'...when I feel something isn't right, I say it. But, I also think it's important to use your head & fully know & stick by what your sticking up for. Some people are just negative & like bringing dark clouds, you just have to try and steer clear of them. I try not to get in debates that seem silly, like ones involving celebrities..it can be easy to get sucked in, but stuff that matters like the world, and the people and animals in it, that's worth having a debate about! Debating is good at times because you can hear everyone's view and try to fix things, but if there is listening and understanding. But, anyways...love Lana Del Rey...xx

  2. Oh well... it happens, but you shouldn't let negative people affect your mood, kindness and passion.

At the time I was rescuing stray, miserable and sick cats from the street where people would simply kick them and walk away, my friends were telling me "Why do you help those dirty animals, when they are children suffering?". My answer was "I can't adopt a child now, but I can save a cat's life. To help children in need, I donate supplies. When was the last time you made a donation?"

Be strong and positive, dear. It's about you and what you do, not others. :)

  3. I agree, Cheryl. Some people out there are just assholes and don't really need any excuse to be nasty. I've come to realize that these people are just best left ignored.

  4. Great post, Cheryl. I agree with Emmylou that we just need to ignore negative people most of the time...unless of course they need our love and we have the energy to give it to them!

  5. It's true, there will always be people like that, that's way I sometimes stay away from Facebook-folks moaning and ranting about frivolous things. Just forget the negative and ignorant ones, and shine like you do! You cannot please everyone, I've learnt that in one's succession there will always be another who will try to put you down. But, in the end, a positive and genuine heart will always triumph! :)
    Enjoy your day dear!

  6. I am not sure what this is specifically in reference to, but let me say this: in general people are (too) easily offended, often because it is easy to forget that every person plays the lead in their own life.

I am off to check out the LDR song now!

  8. Damn, you echoed my thoughts exactly. Apparently, the world is full of self-righteous people. And haters. That´s why every now and then, I check myself if I too am self-righteous, just in case, I can pull myself off my high horse. Oh, and did you know that I´ve been sent direct emails from some haters through my blog? In my five years in the blogosphere, I had a fair share of them. My nose used to boil when I´m attacked, I was told to brace my teeth before I start posting outfit posts, I was called an idoit, etc. But now? I don´t care anymore. Haters can keep hating, self-righteous people can keep wasting their time being politically correct, coz at the end of the day, they´ll die unhappy. Every hatred they throw adds to their unhappiness.

Cheers from Germany. Keep up your good work, dear Cheryl.

  11. Cheryl you are lovely, and you don't have to defend that at all. People are always going to be negative esp when they are jealous of someone else. Always find the positive in every situation and the universe will reward you wish such.

btw. I love your writing :)

  12. I consider myself a genuinely positive person and so I literally can't stand being around negativity. It totally affects me! :/

  13. you make such valid points. I'm not sure why the world is drawn to the negative. You can even see it in the news. There are fewer reports of anything heartwarming or positive. We hear all about the crimes, the wars, the hate and the offensive. It's a bigger shock value and captures the viewer's attention. When people watch reality TV, it's hardly the people who have less drama in his/her life that get the attention. If anything, they're labeled "boring
and people move on. It's a shame, really.

While I understand why people are drawn, it does make me feel sad about it. The world has come a long way but we're still so far from being what we could be. Of course, I could be way too unrealistic about everything, too. =)

  16. Hi Cheryl, thanks for this heartfelt post, I can't tell you how many of these people I have met in my life...Ive learnt now to separate myself from them because all they do is bring you down.

  17. While at times you can't let others make you stoop to there level, it is at times good to let them know you too can get down... However keep on keeping on girl.

  18. Great post Cheryl and it's so well written and I like that you say it like it is. Twitter ramblings, haters, etc are such a waste of time. I like that you mention Lana Del Rey too - I love her music. I listen to it when I'm getting ready, especially video games.

  19. Eh, yeah it happens. It can be so annoying, can't it?? That's why I never read any of the comments in any of the BuzzFeed articles. Some people really get worked up! Same with YouTube.

Yes I have heard LDR's rendition of Once Upon a Dream! It's amazing!! Love her so much!!

  20. Babe I agree with you...but what I have learnt is that if you indulge or react to anything negative all you do is bring more negativity into your life, so the best thing is to just let it go and dont think anything negative.... xxx
