It doesn't get too cold in my part of the world, but it is thankfully chilly
enough to enjoy some snugly winter fashion. Come rain or shine, it is
important to look well turned-out in all seasons. The 2014 fashion runways have
lined up so many predictions for the winter season, but I prefer defining my
own signature style and comfort. After all, there is no better fashion than the
one you create for yourself.
If you are having a tough time dolling up for the second half of winter,
feel free to borrow some tips from my look-book. Try a very understated yet
chic look for this season, and look like a vision even when it’s freezing a
bit. Here’s how:
Invest in a Glamorous Coat
Lucky for me, San Francisco is cold enough to let me get into
a coat.
Step up your winter look with a stunning coat; opt for a shorter, knee-length
coat. My vote is for fur coats this season (faux fur, of course!) – they add a
very vintage, glamorous touch to the whole ensemble without overpowering the
look.
Try a short jacket with a fur collar or a full-fur coat. Get one that fits
you very well; stay away from baggy and bulky coats that do not enhance your
silhouette. Choose neutral colors like beige, white, grey, and black. The color
white has made it big on the runway this season, so a white coat is a wardrobe
essential.
Colorful Scarves and Monochrome Outfits
The monochrome trend has grown in the fashion world. Black and white is a
classic color combination, and it looks great when incorporated in a winter
ensemble. However, adding a little color to the look is great for brightening
up a grey winter morning.
Get your hands on
stunning scarves with bold colors, perhaps the colorful knitted ones in bright
colors or printed scarves. Not only will they keep you warm on a cold day, they
will also add a style statement to your whole look. Try new ways to wear a
scarf every now and then to improvise in your styling.
Classic Jewelry
Resolve to go easy on the accessories in the New Year. Opt for classy,
elegant jewelry pieces that bring out your personality. Stay away from chunky
earrings and necklaces that will be an instant overkill to your winter look.
With the neutral winter shades, the best option would be to wear some
classic pearls or
sapphire jewelry. The glossy white of the pearls and the refreshing blue of the
sapphires will be a refreshing splash of color and glamour. A pair of earrings,
a bracelet, and a statement ring will be perfect to complete the look.
Needless to say, keep your knee-high boots, knitted glittens and caps handy
to help you combat the cold. No matter what the season is, keep your fashion
effortless and gorgeous, and make sure you look great.
