After coming back from a couple weeks of vacation, I realized that I needed to get back on my fitness game. I have a workout area at home that features cardio equipment and free weights, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't matter what I wear. I always find that working out becomes easier when you're dressed in something that motivates you. That's why I'm all about fitness meets fashion with this new Derek Lam 10C Athleta collection.
Today I'm wearing the 2-in-1 sweatshirt jacket, the downtown dress and the 515 New Balance downtown sneaker. What I love about the sweatshirt jacket is that it's a great piece to take you to the gym. I always go to the gym with some sort of outerwear on to help with the sweat. About halfway through my workout, I tend to remove it when my body temperature rises. And this jacket is complete with zippered pockets for your valuables.
The downtown dress is made of the most breathable fabric. It might seem odd to workout in a dress, but it's actually quite easy and fashionable. I credit tennis players who put it all on the line in their dresses and skirts -- and look good doing it. I love the dual color tones on this piece as well.
And these downtown sneakers are killer. They are lightweight and super comfortable, which makes it easy to get in some serious cardio. But this look is great for a yoga session, a date with the medicine ball, or even a quick video workout.
