Style File: H&M Loves Coachella & 10 Cloverfield Lane

Are you guys tired of all the Coachella talk? Well, I'm super sorry, but I'm sharing two H&M Loves Coachella looks on the blog this week. So I hope you like the outfits enough to let it slide.

Today's look is this fun fringe dress from the collection. It's one of the few pieces that you can still shop online, and it's also one of the only pieces that you can easily wear out on a regular Saturday night.

You know how I feel about cut outs and fringe, so there really was no way that this dress wasn't coming home with me (you'll also see it on my friend later this week). And there was no better accessory for it than a faux fur ombre vest and a cheeky bow tie. Makes me feel like a '70s GoGo dancer! And isn't that what Coachella is all about anyway?

On the Muse: | H&M Loves Coachella fringe dress | H&M Loves Coachella arm cuff | Ombre faux fur vest (black) (pink) | ASOS bow tie (navy version) | Chinese Laundry shoes |

10 Cloverfield Lane
It's been a while since I've featured a movie review on here. The last one was for The Revenant back at the end of February. I predicted that Leo would finally win his best actor Oscar for that role, and he did. Today, I'm sharing a very different film.

About a month ago, the hubs and I saw 10 Cloverfield Lane. Do you know this one? Honestly, I generally don't waste my time or money on horror movies anymore, but I just loved the previews for this one. Is it a horror movie? Is it sci-fi? Should I be scared of the human element or is it something extraterrestrial? Is life better inside the bunker or the unknown outside world? I'm including the trailer for it here so you get what I mean. It's a sequel to the movie Cloverfield, if you remember that one "point-of-view" style film from about a decade ago. And how about that awesome cover of Tiffany's I Think We're Alone Now? It's like it was meant to be sang this way.
So the plot is, a woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead who you might know from Scott Pilgrim vs. the Worldis on her way out of the city after breaking up with her fiance when she gets run off the road. She wakes up handcuffed in a room in an underground bunker. John Goodman plays the paranoid bunker owner who says that he saw her crashed car and saved her from a massive chemical attack that's made the air un-breathable.

But Winstead's character doesn't trust Goodman's character as there wasn't anything wrong just a couple days ago when she was in the city. And it's kind of hard to put all your trust into a man you just met who has cuffed you to a pipe in a bunker and tells you that the world has come to an end. Right? Plus, let's not forget to mention that this particular man has a few idiosyncrasies that might suggest that he's off-balance.
Winstead's character has to decide if she should resign herself to a bunker life of old movies, puzzles and the like for what could be months, or even years -- with a man who might be hiding a shocking secret, or if she should take her chances and escape to the outside world that could be wrought with devastation and disease...if she even believes that to be true.

It's just such a great movie, especially for this genre, because you really don't know what to believe the entire time you're watching. At one point you're thinking, Goodman is a total serial killer who is telling you that the world ended so he can keep you in his bunker forever. But then you have reason to believe that the world has actually ended and this man is simply trying to keep you alive and safe. Or maybe he's a crazed maniac and the world has ended and you just have to flip a coin. Whichever is true (they do explain it all at the end), it's totally worth seeing 10 Cloverfield Lane for yourself because it's so well done from start to finish.

And kudos to a female lead that's actually relatable, smart and creative!

  7. I've actually been tempted to see this film. I don't usually care about horror either, but the sci-fi "is it real or not" element is interesting.

Cute dress and it's very festival worthy!
