Insta Lately: September 2016

Remember the last time I did an Insta Lately post? Well, I'm back at it again so you can keep up with all the things going on with me outside of the blog. And, of course, you can just follow me on Instagram and Snapchat to make life easier on yourselves, lol. Seriously, good stuff there!

// Natural Bridges //
I'm trying to add more scenic shots to my Instagram going forward. As you guys know, I'm not just about fashion (even though I love it). But I also really love beautiful views and excellent photography. I had the hubs take a bunch of photos of this on the Sony DSLR but then I went ahead and used this shot taken by my Samsung Galaxy instead, lol.
// Cut It Out //
You'll see more of these cut out west coast wedges on the blog soon (and they come in beige, too). I already own a ton of wedges, but how could I resist these?
// Braids & Baubles //
At the Kendra Scott grand opening a couple weeks back. Didn't buy anything then, but I have my eye on the Samantha necklace -- what do you think?
// Tahoe Swing //
I'd like to one day retire and end up sitting on a swing looking out toward the water. How can you not find peace with a setting like that!
// Vines Cafe //
Check out this spot if you're ever in Sacramento. Usually I take this time to give you some behind-the-scenes info, but just read the caption. It tells you everything you need to know.
// The Bralette //
Whether you call it a bralette or a cami crop top, it's definitely something you should add to your fall wardrobe as it's perfect for layering! Shop this one here!
// September Issue //
We're in the month that starts fall, that gives us New York Fashion Week, and that stacks our bookshelves with all the September issues. This one was my fave. What about you?
// Glo'd Up //
We took this photo at one of the pools at the apartments by Moitozo Park. The sun was giving a weird reflection at the time, which is why my hair is sparkling. Pretty cool, I think.
// Clean Slate //
Gotta love fun and unique ways to dress up your home decor, which is why I love these slate matte coasters and trays by Renee Redesigns. They come in gold, rose gold and silver, too.
Just call me salted caramel. It's really hard for me to say no to anything with caramel in it. I mean, just look at this macaron deliciousness! If you have a Maven's Creamery then hop to it.
Been wearing this NY&Co perfume all summer and will take it into the fall as well. If only I could bring these pink peonies with me.

Made Well

At the start of this month I told you all that I would figure out a fun way to wear a bralette or cami crop top in the fall. I went with wearing it under a button down shirt because even though last Thursday was the official first day of fall, it's definitely still warm enough to show a little bra. But note, people will stare at you. I wore this look to get coffee, to do a little shopping at Zara, and to see a movie, so I definitely noticed some eyes looking my way. You just have to wear it with confidence. Oh, and did I mention that this little gray bralette is also currently on sale?

And if you like my necklace, my rings, my hat or my arm candy (you probably like at least one of those), then you really need to check out the new fall collection at Charming Charlie. Some of these items are StyleWatch exclusives, but all of them are super chic and inexpensive.

Style September: Fall Looks

Tomorrow is the official first day of fall! I know some of you have been sippin' on your Pumpkin Spice Lattes all month, but cool it! I wasn't going to get rid of summer early just because the PSL craze had arrived. Come September 22, you can truly get your fall on if it's feeling like autumn in your neck of the woods. Like I've said before, fall weather in the Bay Area starts off cold, heats up and then ends cold again, so you need a wardrobe that accommodates that! Take a look at a few of my favorite fall looks from 2015 and then shop some of my favorite fall styles for 2016 below!

Radiant Forever

This past weekend I was hanging with friends in Santa Cruz for a birthday, so I wasn't super focused on outfit photos. Luckily, I like to think ahead and took these pics earlier in the month. Also, I had to get these photos in while my French braids were still popping!

I've actually owned this skirt for months, but could never think of the proper top to pair with it until I got this one. The cool sleeve detail goes so well with the unique slits on the skirt. Plus, I'm really into this color combination for fall. A part of me is thinking about sticking to this sort of color scheme (as best I can) going forward. What do you guys think? Are you a fan?

What to Watch - Fall 2016

If you've been here a while then you probably already know that I'm a bit of a TV and movie junkie. I get intrigued by great dramas and find joy in smart comedies. But I've also been good about realizing when a show has lost its moxie (like the last couple seasons of Lost) and quitting it cold turkey. So since fall is right around the corner, I'm sharing my most anticipated shows from the 2016 TV lineup. I really hope I don't steer you wrong as most of these should be good.
Dramadies
Atlanta
If there's only one show on my list that you decide to watch let it be this one. One reason I'm so confident about it is probably because the first few episodes already aired, so I can tell you that it's super awesome! Donald Glover and the supporting cast totally deliver.
FX -- Premiered 9/6
Two cousins attempt to make it big in the Atlanta music business.

Notorious
There's a chance that this show will get old really quick, but I think the first few episodes will be thrilling and entertaining before it starts to seem repetitive.
ABC -- Premieres 9/22
Want to know how private stories become breaking news? Well this TV producer and this lawyer are the masterminds of headlines.

Comedies
The Good Place
It's going to be nice to see Kristen Bell back on TV for things other than Samsung commercials. I think she's super funny and has great comedic timing. Plus, it's a unique premise for a show.
NBC -- Premieres 9/19
A woman dies and goes to "The Good Place," which is supposed to be heaven. But it's clear that she's not like everyone else and probably shouldn't be there.

Speechless
Every time I see a commercial for this upcoming show I laugh. Minnie Driver is certainly going to run this show and I can't wait for the hilarity to ensue.
ABC -- Premieres 9/21
A mother and her family deal with the challenges their special needs son faces on a daily basis, but not in the way that you might guess.

Dramas
Pitch
A couple years ago I watched Kylie Bunbury on a show called Twisted before it got canceled. So I'm happy to see her in a new show with such an inspirational premise for young girls.
FOX -- Premieres 9/22
An inspirational story about the first woman to ever play for a Major League Baseball team.

Designated Survivor
I'll admit. I probably won't actually watch this show past the premiere episode. It's not really my style, but I had to include it because Kiefer Sutherland has a great TV track record.
ABC -- Premieres 9/21
A bomb kills every cabinet member during the State of the Union address -- everybody except one -- and now he's next in line to be president.

Luke Cage
If you're a fan of the Netflix superhero movement -- Daredevil and Jessica Jones -- then you should be a fan of Luke Cage. Now, I have to wait for The Punisher to premier, too.
Netflix -- Premieres 9/30
A bartender with super strength and an unbreakable body attempts to rebuild his life while fighting for his city.

Do you plan on watching any of these new shows? Or did your most anticipated show not make it on my list? Sound off in the comments below.

My Not-So New York Fashion Week

I might not be at NYFW this year, but I will always find a way to attend a fashion show! This is what I wore to a local Fall/Winter Fashion Show. As you can see, this Chicwish dress and these Donald J Pliner Fresia pumps came together for the perfect ensemble.

Obviously, I'm on the shorter side so this dress falls just above my knees, but I'm still a fan of the drop waist action. But, aside from the crochet detail, my favorite thing about this piece is that it comes with a separate camisole underdress. So nothing is sheer and everything is breathable. And if you're wondering, yes, this outfit is similar to this ootd. Clearly, I have a look.

After the show, I did some wine tasting, which I actually haven't done in a long time. A couple of our friends are, sadly, leaving the Bay Area next month (but they'll be back in a year), so of course, we had to make some time for Pinots, Rieslings Cabernets and a bit of tiramisu. Fashion shows and wine weekends: what can I tell ya -- life is hella hard in the Bay, lol.

POWERHour by Sweaty Betty

If you checked out my Instagram page today then you might have seen one of these photos. I'm talking all about getting your sweat on with the new Power Hour line by Sweaty Betty. You can find more about that on my Instagram. But I had so much fun taking these photos at the nearby playground that I just had to share the other pics that didn't make the IG cut.

My love for monkey bars hasn't diminished even though I'm 30 years old. I think it's the kid gymnast in me. There's just something about pulling yourself up, swinging from your legs and just feeling free that you gotta love -- no matter your age. But I will say that later that day I drove past a different park and saw a sign that read, "Adults Must Be Accompanied By a Child" -- how hilarious! Maybe I should get some monkey bars in my backyard.

What are your thoughts? Are you guys still into "childish" things? Life's too short not to be.

What I'm Loving September 2016

Did you muses have a fab Labor Day weekend? Are you planning on continuing to wear white? I know I am! Whether you used the extra day to get in another workout or to simply sleep in, it's always refreshing for the mind and body to get a little more time. Even though the official first day of fall doesn't start for another two weeks, now that we're in September, we all have autumn on the brain. So come take a look at what I'm loving (and looking forward to) this month!
Secrets and Lies -- Season 2: Did someone say Michael Ealy's eyes? I watched the first season (with Ryan Phillippe) last year and it was very intriguing. So I'm super stoked for the return of Juliette Lewis and the addition of Michael Ealy this time around. Have you seen the commercials? Seriously counting down the days as I can't wait to unlock the mystery. The second season -- starring Michael Ealy's eyes -- premieres Sunday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Converse Sneakers: As far as fashion goes, I've been really into Converse Chuck Taylors and sneakers, alike. I know that this might sound weird because fall is boot season. And don't get me wrong, I'll be rocking those, too. But something in me really wants to just keep it casual and find a way to wear my Converse sneakers with practically every look. Is that weird?

Bralettes/Cami Crop Tops: I have this bralette that you might have seen on my Instagram (and will most likely see again) that I got from Madewell. The one in the photo is from Free People. I'm really into the idea of finding a way to wear it this fall, so I'm thinking about putting together a look where I layer it under a button down shirt. What do you guys think? Could I wear it over a long-sleeve shirt, too, or maybe even under a pair of overalls?

Santa Cruz Getaway: In a few days I'm taking a weekend trip to Santa Cruz for a friend's birthday. Santa Cruz is only about 45 minutes away, but it's worth a weekend getaway as it has a beautiful beach boardwalk, live music, these natural bridges and more! I guess a part of me is stretching out the last few days of summer for as long as possible, which is easy to do in California.

September is here and it's the start of fall -- what are you loving this month?

Slit Knit Midi

Happy Labor Day! Last week I shared my Santana Row Fall Fashion post because Santana Row is one of my favorite places to shop (when I'm not shopping online). So it only makes sense for me to share the look that I created when I shopped for fall fashion on the row.

Pretty much everything here is from Santana Row. I picked out this Urban Outfitters midi dress and mini crossbody the same time I bought these nail polishes. I also got the H&M bomber (or pilot) jacket that day, as well. I love all things olive so this was a no-brainer, but I'm still thinking of getting a second pilot jacket in pink or floral -- what do you think?

I went back to Santana Row on a weekday to get this Kendra Scott ring and this woven scarf to complete the look. You can't say you're doing a fall look without some layers, am I right? The Chucks, which you might recognize, were purchased online, which is fab because I've been hankering for some white sneaks. And it might seem weird that I'm wearing a layered look after wearing a dress last week, but honestly, the weather has totally changed since the month of September began. I totally would have frozen if I didn't have this bomber on for this shoot.

On the Muse: Urban Outfitters Silence + Noise Cynthia thigh slit knit midi dress c/o Santana Row (also comes in dark gray) | Converse Unisex Chuck Taylor All Stars | H&M Bomber Pilot jacket c/o Santana Row | Urban Outfitters Naomi mini crossbody bag c/o Santana Row (also comes in black and white) | H&M woven scarf c/o Santana Row | Kendra Scott Paige ring c/o Santana Row (also comes in gold) | UO Olive felt hat (also comes in black) |
