Wrap Party

And we're back! Did you guys have a good Thanksgiving Day weekend? I hope it was spent with friends and family. I watched a lot of football, which was great, and then headed out to a Friendsgiving in Los Angeles. I'm not going to lie, all the food was delicious. Seriously -- from the stuffing to the salad -- everything was grade A. We also had a pretty good time playing some games (have you ever played Mafia?) and having some laughs.

We also went to a few of the L.A. hot spots. I mean, I've been to Los Angeles so many times, so I've seen many of the sites before, but it was nice to get out to some of the cool places in Silver Lake, Larchmont, Los Feliz and the like. We got some special Thanksgiving coffees at Go Get Em Tiger (remember that $9 latte on my InstaStory?) and some fab breakfast tacos at HomeState. Did I mention we also got late-night ice cream, tres leches and sorbet at Milk? I gotta go back there the next time I'm in L.A. because their ice cream sandwiches looked delish! And we might have also caught a glimpse of Gillian Jacobs getting coffee and Ellen Barkin leaving the gym, lol.

Last Friday night, we also decided to do an escape room. Have you heard of that before? We've done a bunch in the Bay Area and even one in Florida, but this was our first time doing one in SoCal. An escape room is a game where you and a group of people are locked in a room and have to use items in the room to solve puzzles in a set amount of time (usually an hour) to escape. Each room has a different theme like asylum, bank robbery, haunted house, etc. You don't get a prize for escaping the room, but it's more about the fun you have searching for clues and solving puzzles. And when you do escape, which we did, it's really just a sense of pride.

On to the look! Just a little wrap top goodness from Chicwish. You know it's hard to go wrong with a little Chicwish in your life (see all my Chicwish looks here). And speaking of Chicwish, have you been shopping their sale? From Black Friday to Cyber Monday (that's today), you can shop the site and get an extra 25% off your purchase with the code BLK25. You'll want to get your hands on this Chicwish new arrivals sweater dress for sure! And if you're a fan of my sunglasses, then check out the deal at 2SeeLife! From now until December 7, you can get three pairs of sunglasses (of your choice) for $20 plus free shipping with the code CHERYL.

Lorelai's List: Gilmore Girls Gift Guide

Happy Tuesday! I decided to post today instead of my usual Wednesday since this is going to be a short week for many of us. I know we tend to go on our Thanksgiving trips Wednesday night, so here is a quick little post before we all gather together with our friends and family.

I've done Thanksgiving outfit inspirations and even Turkey Day Tablescapes in the past. But this time around, I thought I'd focus on something even better: the Gilmore Girls! Unless you've been living under a rock, then you know that the Gilmore Girls are returning to TV -- to Netflix to be precise -- this Friday, Nov. 25. All four, 90-minute episodes will be available to watch this Friday, meaning you can sit back with your cup of coffee binging on Lorelai, Rory and the gang instead of being a crazy person shopping the Black Friday sales. That seriously sounds like a no-brainer.

So muses, here is a quick Gilmore Girls Gift Guide that Lorelai and Rory (and possibly even Luke) would swoon over. You can find all these pieces on Etsy -- they have pretty much everything you could think of when it comes to GG. Nothing here is more than $25, and there are even more awesome items that I didn't even get to yet. I totally have my eye on the cynicism coffee sweater and those Gilmore Girls quote pencils (if only I had a true need for pencils these days).
Shop Here: | Like a Gilmore coffee mug | Team Jess T-shirt | Gilmore Girls quote pencils | Luke's Diner enamel pin | Gilmore How Do I Feel Today mood board | Luke's No Cell Phones phone case | Luke & Lorelai bookmarks | Where You Lead poster | Coffee with a Shot of Cynicism sweater |

Running for seven seasons, the Gilmore Girls holds a special place in my heart. I was a fan from the very start. Basically, I'm Team Jess all the way, consider myself to be the Paris Geller of any group, and can now truly appreciate the Gilmore love of coffee. Did you watch it back in the day? Please don't tell me that you're Team Dean (or even worse, Team Logan). Also, you guys remember the character of Sookie St. James? Melissa McCarthy surely has come a long way!

I wouldn't be mad if I got everything here. But let me know -- what's your favorite? And are you planning on tuning into the Gilmore Girls reboot this Friday?

Love Laces Out

Well look what we have here! The week of Thanksgiving is upon us. I'm not going to lie -- I'm not ready for it yet. But I'll be heading to the Los Angeles area for the turkey day weekend, and I'm certainly looking forward to some stuffing. Stuffing is the best. Are you guys ready for the upcoming holiday weekend? Let me know your plans below. Maybe you have a friendsgiving?

So about the look: you know that I'm a big fan of the color gray. So shout out to Wild Blue Denim for hooking me up with this all gray ensemble. I can never say no to destructed denim. Don't you find it to be so fun? And the ankle fit allows me to really show off my awesome Zara mules. If you want an even better shot of them, be sure to check them out on my Instagram.

And the lace-up sweater I'm wearing is also from Wild Blue Denim, which you can shop at Rue21. And you want to know a secret? I'm actually wearing this sweater backward. It was clearly supposed to be business in the front and party in the back, but I really loved how the back looked so why not flip it to the front, right? I even stopped at Starbucks wearing it this way and the barista loved it! I really think it was totally meant to be worn like this. What do you think?

This is also the first time I'm busting out the faux leather jacket this season. It was super cold and oh so necessary. Sometimes I really enjoy the fall/winter weather. But other times, I really can't stand how muggy and cold and windy it can get. Would you believe that it's actually raining in these photos? And don't get me started on the absurdity of it getting dark at 5:30 these days.

FYI, that's the face I make when I'm wondering if the photographer has taken the photo yet...

What I'm Loving November 2016

Octer: It seems like two seconds ago it was Halloween and now it's practically almost Thanksgiving. I hope your wardrobe is ready! But if it isn't, then you can check out Octer.com, as I'm finding myself on that site all the time these days. It's a fab one-stop shop for women's clothing (jackets and coats, anyone?), home decor and beauty products as well. So you can shop Octer to get both yourself and your home winter ready. I have my eyes on their knitwear!

Westworld: When I was in Florida, a couple of people kept telling me that I needed to watch Westworld, but I hadn't ever heard of it at that time. Then one of my blogger friends kept talking about it on her Instagram. So I figured, maybe this show is worth a look. And I gotta tell ya, so far so good. Based on a film that's based on a book, this HBO series was created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. Westworld is all about a technologically advanced Western themed amusement park. The people in the park are made up of hosts (synthetic androids who aren't aware that they're not human) and guests (wealthy humans who pay high prices to do whatever they want to do at the park). Each day, the hosts are reset and unaware of any wrongdoings that ever happened to them. But a few of the hosts start to show signs that they might be forming memories, questioning their reality, and even worse, possibly becoming sentient. Image

Chai Lattes: The last time I talked about chai was back in this February Loving post. I laugh at the fact that I was only drinking coffee once a week. LMAO, that's hilarious. In 2016, I was drinking coffee about six days a week, but I switched from coffee to chai back in October and I love it. I know that it still has caffeine (I have no issue with that), but I'm happy at how easy it was for me to make the transition. Chai lattes are my new favorite drink and the spices are fall perfect. Image

Skinfix: I mentioned in last year's November Loving post that my skin gets super dry when the temperatures start to get low. So it's no surprise that I start to stock up on skin care products in the fall. And I'm so happy to have found the Skinfix brand. They focus on creating healing balms and daily care products that conquer skin irritations. I have mild eczema -- which doesn't seem very mild in the winter -- so I'm loving the Skinfix adult eczema collection. I use the eczema balm, soothing lotion and soothing wash every day and my skin is thanking me for it! Even if you don't have eczema, Skinfix has serums and the like for babies, kids and adults of all skin types.

Lucite & Lace

I've really wanted to try out the lace cami trend. I've seen it worn as a bralette, worn over a dress, worn with a coat, and many other ways. I decided to try it layered over a white top to give me a cool breeze vibe since we're in November but it doesn't always feel that way.

This lace top is from Zara, but if you're diggin' the layered look, then click here for this awesome 2-in-1 lace cami and tee piece -- two for the price of one. I love the layered look, but I do think that the next time I wear this lace top, I'll wear it without the white cami but keep the leather moto jacket. What's so great about the lace is how easy it is to pair with so many options.

I almost paired it with imitation leather shorts, but opted for these unique glitter joggers. I've actually owned them for many years (like here or even here), and I'm really feeling the comfy jogger style in the fall and winter. But the star of the show has got to be these lucite heels, or as Zara calls them -- methacrylate! They're like stripper heels, but much more chic, right?

As we all know, it was a crazy week with the election. I'm not going to get into it here on the blog, but I will say that I finally started watching Westworld and it is intense! Are any of you watching? And I'm happy that I was able to go on a date night to see The Sound of Music with the hubs over the weekend. Even with all the craziness going on right now, it's hard to not have a smile on your face when watching The Sound of Music. It truly is a fabulous musical with so many memorable tunes. And it is just another example of the fact that kids are fearless!

Kids are the ones that do gymnastics back flips at the age of three; kids are the ones that get thrown in a pool and learn how to swim at the age of two; kids are the ones that take up acting classes and sing on a stage in front of hundreds of people at the age of six. Kids have no fear and I totally commend them for that as things get a lot scarier with every year that you age.

Tulum Glamping

Glamping Hub offers unique stays when you travel. Stays that include handpicked accommodations across the globe, pet-friendly rentals, a secure booking system and unique experiences. That's why I knew that I had to book with Glamping Hub for my recent trip to Tulum, Mexico. I've been wanting to visit Tulum for what seems like forever.
It just looked like a place with a chill vibe that was fairly untouched. So incorporating the Glamping Hub experience was practically a no-brainer. I'm definitely not one for the usual camping structure, so I knew that a glamp would be the best of both worlds. Types of glamping include anything from tree houses and caves to safari tents and nature lodges.
We spent a few days at the Shambala Petit Hotel in Tulum. This eco retreat included charming beachfront casitas located on the south beach of Tulum. The city is about 90 minutes south of Cancun, but at the same time, it's like half a world away. The hotel is surrounded by endless sandy beaches on one side and a beautiful strip of local shops and restaurants on the other.
When we arrived, we were greeted by our host Mari -- who is originally from Japan but migrated to Tulum after falling in love with it -- who showed us to our cabana, Casa Eolo, right on the beach. Unfortunately, that particular cabana was having some electrical issues, so we were given the Casa Albaba, which was basically like living in a tree house. You really can't go wrong with bamboo walls, mosaic floors and sliding doors that let in the ocean breeze of the Caribbean Sea.
Each morning we enjoyed a complimentary, eco-friendly breakfast and the company of the handful of other guests staying at the Shambala Petit Hotel for a yoga retreat. And when I say handful, I really do mean that. The hotel only occupies 10 cabanas so it's super quiet and very friendly. We then spent our morning sitting beach side before heading out for drinks, food and local shopping. Literally just steps from the hotel is the main street with various restaurants (fried fish, ice cream, pizza -- you name it) and cute boutiques.
That's where I picked up this gorgeous halter jumpsuit from Josa Tulum. All the contemporary pieces were made in Tulum and sold right on Tulum beach road, making it the perfect outfit for my stay. Dress like a local, eat like a local and live like a local while in Tulum. Can't go wrong!

Made for Movers

Sponsored by Zappos
It's no surprise that I'm all about online shopping. I honestly can't think of one thing that I haven't ever bought online. From books to shoes, I'm all about the convenience. If you've read either my Perfect Fall Pairing post or my Hudson Was Here post, then you know that Zappos is one of my favorite places for online shopping. Here are my main pros for shopping at Zappos!
You guys already know all the wonderful denim, top and accessories that Zappos provides, and they're also great for their large range of shoe options. So when I got this Sophie jumpsuit from Behno, I looked to Zappos for a great shoe choice to complement the look. And that's when I came across Rockport. Have you heard of the Rockport brand or do you own any of their shoes?

Rockport is all about inspiration in everyday life and is a brand that's #MadeforMovers -- people who think (and act) on their feet! People who get things done. And that's what I'm all about. I simply can't function until I've taken care of business and everything on my to-do list. So I need shoes that are comfortable enough -- and versatile enough -- to get me through the day (which includes errands, photo shoots, coffee dates and more). And these suede Rockport strap booties (that also come in leather) were the perfect pick for both this jumpsuit and my life. This bonded crepe jumpsuit in white features unique black embellishments that easily translated to my Rockport booties from the Women's Total Motion Collection at Zappos.

The Rockport Total Motion Collection includes a range of shoes that were built to move even after hours of wear. Cushy insoles and lightweight outsoles make for a winning combo. I know I've talked about comfortable shoes in the past, but I seriously kid you not when I say that these Rockport booties are the epitome of comfort. As soon as I stepped into these shoes I could feel the soft and breathable foam-backed textile lining under my feet. I completely forgot I was wearing heels, which was perfect for the full day that I had.

The hubs and I started our day by checking out various fitness centers as we're in need of a new gym membership. Then we headed to a pool and later on picked up the dogs, made a Target run, got some food and then headed back home! These shoes are truly made for moving!

I should mention that the hubs doesn't like being left out. And since the Rockport brand has a large selection of shoes for both sexes, the hubs was able to rock these comfy and aptly named path to greatness slip ons. They come in both tan and new dress blues, and are the perfect mix of cozy and chic for the man in your life. Rockport also has dressier options for men as well.

Side note: One more day until the big day: Election Day! If you didn't vote early, then please go out and vote on Nov. 8! Your vote counts, and be sure to read up on all the propositions, too!

I'm hosting the Monday Mingle Linkup today so be sure to add your look below! And check out my linkup partners Take Time 4 Style and Momtrends to see what they're styling, too.
