What I Loved: May 2017

Pretty sure it's no secret that I love jumpsuits. If it weren't for the fact that they're a pain when it's time to use the bathroom and that some of them are too long for me, I'd definitely wear jumpsuits and rompers every day. Why? Because they're so versatile. They come in so many different styles -- super chic or super chill. And now, even boys want to get in on the action (let's just say no to the romphim trend, OK? Guys in jumpsuits are fine, but not rompers). Some of my favorite jumpsuits and rompers at the moment are linked below. They include the summery overlay style, the tie-front cutout look, and of course, the striped culotte, all of which I plan to rock this June.

I think I saw someone eating zucchini noodles on their Instastory earlier in May and thought they'd be a good addition to my new diet plan. I also wanted to get some lentil pasta as well. The cool thing about the zucchini noodles is that you can buy the actual zucchini spirals at Whole Foods. No need to go searching for that spiralizer you don't own. So the hubs picked some up at Whole Foods and I've been noshing on them ever since. They actually taste pretty good and obviously make for a healthy pasta substitute. In case you're curious, a serving size of zoodles (one cup) is 18 calories, 0g of fat, 3g of carbs, 1g of fiber and 1g of protein. Try it with mushrooms and fish!
You know when you randomly find yourself watching something on TV and you're like, "wait, when did this come on?" Well that happened to me back when I was in a hotel room in Seattle and saw a glimpse of RuPaul's Drag Race. The show is in its ninth season, so it's not like it's new, but I had never watched it before. Now I watch it every week and was even tempted to go to DragCon this year. It's a show about drag queens and it's hilarious. The queens are super stylish and have the best dance moves, hair and makeup. Their lip sync battles are divine. The competition is down to the last five contestants, and my two faves are Shea Coulee and Trinity Taylor. Have you ever watched RuPaul's Drag Race?

Earlier this month, Urban Decay sent over a big box of eye shadow palettes, which included Naked3, Naked2 and Naked1. I was blown away by all the beautiful colors. But I have just one face, so I don't think I need all the palettes. I'll be including the Naked1 and Naked2 palettes in an upcoming summer giveaway so stay tuned! But for now, I'm really enjoying the Naked3 eye shadow palette in all its rose-hued glory. The palette features 12 shades of velvety texture and rich color! But I'm also a big fan of the Clarins 4-Color eye shadow palette in nude, which I consider to be the mini version of the Naked3. The pinks and dark browns in the Clarins palette are like the last four shades of the Naked3 palette and are perfect for my skin tone. Shop either or both below!

I'm not usually one to obsess over celebrities. I mean, I have ones that I'll see movies for, no matter what, but typically to me, celebrities are just people. But every now and then a famous person will totally inspire me. And at this moment, that person is Zoe Kravitz. I've liked her for years -- ever since I found out that she's the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet -- other celebs I've liked for years. But I feel like this year has been really fantastic for Zoe as she was able to showoff her acting and singing talents in Big Little Lies. And after seeing her Allure editorial, I was just so floored. She's like this hippy-not-that-hippy grounded beauty (inside and out), and that's inspiring, especially as a young celebrity. She's not trying to sell you a coke during a protest nor is she using her famous last name to get gigs. She's just real and legit fit. She's also inspiring me to eat more zucchini noodles, lol.

  5. I tried zoodles last summer and I loved them. I need to get back into them for this summer. They're such a tasty and light replacement in my noodle dishes.

  6. I'm on the fence about Zoe Kravitz. She always looks a bit dirty to me, but I like her laid back, casual outlook on life. I have those palettes! They are bomb and I can totally "romp around" in a romper for the rest of my life. I LOVE THEM! A designer just sent me one that is insane looking. Keep your eye on my blog to see it. LOL!

    1. It's so funny because in her editorial, Zoe actually said that people always think she's more hippie-dippy than she really is, lol. I mean, when your parents are Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, it's hard not to be a little hippie. And I will be looking out for your romper!
