What I Loved: May 2018

Could this be the last blog post on the Muse for a while? The odds are strong with this one, my friends. It's definitely the last post for the month of May. Here are four things I loved this month!

Podcasts at the Gym: I usually would listen to podcasts in the car on long drives. And the hubs and I would listen to things like Serial and This American Life. But for the gym, I want something a little lighter but that would also make 30 minutes on the StairMaster feel like 30 seconds. This month I loved listening to Westworld: The Recappables (all about the HBO show); NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour (all about movies, books and more); and Stuff You Should Know (all about exploring everything and how those things work). You guys should also check out Tanvi's Movie Wala Podcast that's all about Hindi movies! Any fun podcasts you think I should start listening to?

Apple Roses: It's not so much that I'm loving apple roses this month. It's more so that I loved that I took the time to make these apple roses by myself. I am not a kitchen person. I don't cook and I don't bake. I don't want to do those things, either. But I was intent on having apple roses, and I only had two options: drive 35 miles to a bakery in Santa Cruz or bake them myself. I opted for the latter. I'm surprised they turned out as well as they did -- and they're not even that good, lol. But I'm really just proud of myself for trying something new. Did you try anything new this month?
Friday Night Lights: Last month it was Suits, this time around it's FNL. I was actually searching for Friday Night Lights when I decided to watch Suits instead, but that's because I couldn't find all five seasons anywhere. Fortunately, every episode is now available on Hulu, so you know I got my binge on. To be honest, I really wanted to watch this show because people said it was great, and I think Taylor Kitsch is eye candy. But I actually really enjoyed a lot of the other characters as well. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton have amazing chemistry (although Aimee Teagarden's Julie Taylor is the worst). And I absolutely LOVE Jason Street. If you want to see a young Michael B. Jordan before he was Killmonger or Creed, then check out seasons 4 and 5 (or season 1 of The Wire).

June Sabbatical: The hubs has a month-long sabbatical in June and I'm taking time off as well. We'll be traveling, first to a friend's wedding and to see some family in Atlanta. Then we're off to the Mediterranean. We're going to Rome, Venice, the Amalfi Coast, Dubrovnik, a boat tour in Croatia, Naxos, Santorini and Istanbul. After this trip, I'll never leave my house again, lol. So I have one post next week, but that'll be it until July. However, I'll share some travel posts and stories on Instagram (@ohtobeamuse) here and there, so stay tuned for a recap when I'm back in July!
