Model Pose: High Fashion

The last in the Model Pose series is a doozy! I thought I'd wrap up the 4-part series with a post dedicated to High Fashion modeling.

You always see these poses in haute couture editorials and even in episodes of ANTM. Here are my tips on how to make your OOTD posts full of high fashion flair.

Opposites Attract

You've probably seen this many times--models in couture gowns posing at garbage dumps and other not so pretty places.

Pose Pro: For some reason, posing next to trash, abandoned lots, or in bars elicits high-end elegance and makes you look even prettier
Pose Con: May be tough seeking out these obscure places

Let Your Body Talk

Keep your background solid and let your pose do the talking. Strike an awkward pose because sometimes high fashion means awkward posing.

Pose Pro: It's simple and doesn't take a lot of added accessories, just the right backdrop, an awkward arch, and a stunning shot of your face
Pose Con: Sometimes poses are actually more difficult when it's just you and the camera

Add Some Scenery

Wear a color that stands out with a beautiful scenic view behind you. Scenery adds texture to a beautiful shot.

Pose Pro: Pose for whatever you're wearing or want to accentuate (shoes, jewelry, your skirt). All you have to do is stay focused in the front
Pose Con: You don't want the wonderful scenic background to overtake your pose--you should still be the center of attraction
