Do you guys remember when I won the True Religion #BeSoBold contest back in 2014? Well, part of my prize for winning that contest three years ago was getting a ton of clothing from True Religion. And I mean, a ton. I think by now I've worn pretty much everything that I was gifted (except for a few tops and some pieces that I gave away). But there was one item that I wasn't ready to part with, but wasn't ready to wear either: these denim flares.
If you were to search high and low across the Muse, you'd be hard-pressed to find me wearing a pair of denim flares. These wide leg pants were the closest I ever came to something like that. My main reasons for not wearing them are: A) I really do prefer skinny jeans and B) I'm really quite short. I've never met a pair of flares that I could wear straight off the rack. That just doesn't work for my barely 5'3" frame. But, luckily, I went to a True Religion event many, many months ago where they were offering free tailoring. So I brought in these flares and sent them off to the True Religion tailor. I got them back about a couple days later and they were fit to short girl perfection.
The crazy thing is I've had these flares sitting in my closet ever since. Even after I got them cut to the proper length, I was still unsure about wearing them. I just wasn't sure I could pull them off. I even paired them with a different top, took some photos, but alas, I still wasn't satisfied. It wasn't until I got this ruffle top that I was able to feel the retro '70s vibe (very Meagan Good in Anchorman 2).
Enough about me. What are your Thanksgiving plans this year?

On the Muse: | Target long sleeve ruffle top -- comes in blue stripe as well | True Religion flares | Ellen Tracy sleeveless vest (similar) | Make Me Chic denim embroidered booties (similar) |
these flares are the perfect length and so cute on you. On Thanksgiving I pretty much plan on eating and watching movies all day lol.

Those flared jeans look amazing on you! I wish a jean company would give me several denim pieces. I'm always on a hunt for them!

Love this outfit with the vests! I just bought two sweater vests but haven't worn them yet, this gives me inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThese flares look so fab on you, Cheryl:) And yeah....I feel your pain with this kind of pants. If it makes you feel any better, you're still taller than me:P
ReplyDeleteFlares can actually create an elongating effect if you choose the right pair for your body. Great job styling these Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteYou wear them well ... and was that in 2014? And it will soon be 4 years since! WOW :)

I love the ruffles on that floral embroidered long sleeved top, and I like how you coordinated your accessories with the blouse, including the floral shoes and bag. That blouse looks pretty styled with the Ellen Tracy sleeveless vest and True Religion flared jeans.

Really loving your outfit. 70's has always been one of my favorite era of clothing because they are so loose and free.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I love flares! I have an amazing pair from Frame that I love. They are high-waisted in a light wash. I feel so cool in them! As if you won a True Religion contest! Way to go! Love the little floral booties too!
