OOTD: American Beauty - I'm a Recessionista Chic

As fashion bloggers, we all know that style has no price. So today's outfit post is highlighting that great adage by participating in Recessionista Chic by the Dolls Factory. The total price of the outfit has to be $75 or under. My outfit has a red, white and blue color scheme and was inspired by this quote:

"In times of crisis, fashion bloggers show that you can have style at any price!"

This is my inspiring style!

This quote is even more resounding now after the Dolls Factory and I had a long conversation about fashion bloggers wearing price tags in their outfit posts because they feel like blogging is a style competition. This was in regard to a great post she wrote.

What do you think: Is blogging a style competition?

  4. love the back of that white shirt you are wearing! you did a great job with this recessionista project

  5. You look so hot, I love your outfit :-)
I mainly wear inexpensive clothes *g*
In my opinion, blogging shouldn't be competitive in general, no matter what you blog about, it should be fun. Unfortunately I, too, noticed that some people see it as a competition, though.

  6. Very cool . Love the drape of the cardigan.

  7. That shirt is so cool! True - style can be at any price but I definitely think some style bloggers are not necessarily in competition but always upping the ante!

  8. It is HIGHLY indecent that you can wear shorts in February, Cher. Just need you to know that. Outfit is way cute though.

P.S. I like the headband a lot more with your hair longer.

Oh dear, I really hope blogging isn't a style competition. I'm afraid I wouldn't be doing very well then, lol. I do love fashion blogs for their inspiration. I feel like I've gotten braver in my styling choices since joining this lovely community two years ago. xoxo

  14. You look adorable! I love both looks. CUTE SHOES!!

  15. i love ur boots and yeah i think blogging in general can turn out to be a popularity contest or a competition against others, i think thats kinda bad though since mots people start blogging for themselves and then end up feeling like they have to please everyone with their posts :/

  21. I don't think style blogging is a competition, it is a form of self-expression, and more importantly it is a community. I love your outfit, I think that's a great idea to give yourself a budget and work within it.

    xoxo, Ashley
