I haven't done a movie review in a long time--not since the review of Kick-Ass back in April. This is not just because I've had so much fun writing purely fashion-related posts, but also because I haven't seen a movie that truly inspired me to write a review.
This summer has not been the best as far as movies go. I was practically forced to watch Splice, and I wish I could get those 2 hours of my life back so I could donate them to a better cause. I had heard that Toy Story 3 is the movie that will save summer, and I think all that talk just might be right.
The Premise:
The toys are back in the third installment of this movie where a group of friends are once again dealing with the good and bad of being Andy's toys. Andy is going to college and decides to only take Woody along (Can you believe it? He doesn't even take Buzz Lightyear). The rest of the toys are meant to go to the attic--but a series of events sends them to a daycare called Sunnyside instead.
Once at Sunnyside, we realize that a deranged teddy bear named Lotso-Hugging Bear has a plan of his own for the toys, and it's up to Woody to get them out of Sunnyside before it's too late.
There is also a pretty great side story between Barbie and Ken that is just super hilarious. Who knew a Ken doll could be so stylish and so funny. Loving the ascot.
I would have to say this was the best movie I've seen this summer, and I can only hope the summer movie schedule picks up soon. I'd much rather watch a bunch of 5-inch toys take over a daycare than watch some guy pretend to be Mr. T. or see Katherine Heigl make yet another bad movie decision.
Here's to a great movie season in the near future! I'm looking at you, Inception and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

Splice wasn't that bad!
ReplyDeleteToy Story was definitely better though, very entertaining. The side story was indeed hilarious.
I think if they meshed the Splice and Toy Story themes together it would be perfect!
Maybe you put up a karate kid review tomorrow?
wooow...

ReplyDeleteI heard that this movie is really good they've been talking about it on the news and everyone seems to agree. What I found surprising is that people say the movie is sad, and the news anchors actually cried while watching lol.

Very nice movie review. :) Good summary without revealing too much. I really want to watch this soon, I've heard it's really good [from lovely people like you, of course!].
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you. :] My Sister's Keeper the movie did indeed make me cry like a baby...especially at the end. D: It's nowhere near as good as the book though.
