The KIA and the Kid

The last time I had the opportunity to work with DriveShop, I borrowed the Mazda CX-5 for a fun trip to San Diego and Los Angeles. This time around, I wanted to visit wine country in Paso Robles and Cambria to celebrate my 30th birthday, and the Kia Sorento was the perfect fit!

Me and 11 friends spent my birthday weekend at a beautiful place called Stepladder Ranch that sat atop a mountain and overlooked the Pacific Ocean. The ranch is also home to Stepladder Creamery, which hosts many animals like goats and pigs and makes cheese, bacon and the like. Each of us wanted to take a baby goat (they're called kids) back home with us. And the Kia Sorento had seating for seven with its optional third row, so I'm sure we could've fit in a few baby goats as well.
The Sorento starts at $25,000, but the one we had was closer to $45,000 since it came with so many bells and whistles. Bells and whistles like an easily sync-able Bluetooth system, one of the coolest camera displays (I'm talking back-up camera, bird's eye view...), blind spot detection, advanced cruise control (that could even set your distance from the car ahead of you), and more.
The hubs and I also loved the driver's seat integrated memory system that allowed the car to save both of our preferred seat settings. Obviously, that's a must when we both take turns driving and he's a foot taller than me.
Getting the birthday cake, balloons and the like in and out of the trunk was such a breeze with the smart power liftgate. And when we didn't need the trunk space anymore, we were able to pull up the third row seats from their fully flat positions to allow for more seating.
The third row provided comfortable head space and its own air conditioning vents, too. And the AWD made going up and down the mountain super easy and a little fun, too.
One of my favorite features of the 2016 Sorento has got to be the panoramic sunroof. The crossover is big so the size of the sunroof makes perfect sense. It provides a great view of above no matter where you're sitting in the Kia.
The funny thing is, before I got this car, I didn't think I would have much interest in it because I've never really thought about a Kia before. But after driving it, I'm hands down sold on the performance of this vehicle. Smooth and easy driving; all the space you could need; and it's not too shabby to look at either! After this driving experience, it's safe to say that I'm inches away from being a crossover girl.
Thanks so much to DriveShop for lending me the 2016 Kia Sorento for my birthday weekend.
