Do you guys remember when I did this post last fall on what TV shows to watch? Well, I think I did a pretty good job at giving you all some great shows to consider. I mean, Atlanta has won Emmy awards and The Good Place just started its second season and had an amazing season one finale! Speechless, Designated Survivor and Luke Cage did pretty well. But I'm sorry I told you guys to watch Pitch and Notorious. They were pretty shitty, lol.
So here's the list for my most anticipated shows to watch in fall 2017! All of these shows have already premiered with their first episode except for the one on Netflix. But at least that one you can watch the entire season on the same day.
Comedies
The Mayor // ABC: Tuesdays at 9:30pm
This might be the show that you've seen the most promotions for. In real life, there have been many scenarios of non-political people running for office...and winning! So The Mayor sort of plays on that with this comedy about a rapper (played by Brandon Michael Hall) who decides to run for mayor as a publicity stunt until he actually gets elected. It also stars Yvette Nicole Brown and Lea Michele.
Kevin (Probably) Saves the World // ABC: Tuesdays at 10pm
A man who is down on his luck (Jason Ritter -- son of the late comedic talent, John Ritter), meets a warrior for God who tells him that it's now his life mission to save the world. Basically, he's got a good heart, but lacks responsibility and he's been given the biggest responsibility in the world.

Supernatural
The Gifted // Fox: Mondays at 9pm
Stephen Moyer is no stranger to being on a show with ridiculously weird stuff happening all the time (i.e. True Blood). This time around, instead of playing vampire Bill, Moyer and his wife (Amy Acker) are parents to children who possess mutant powers and are forced to go on the run from the government. It's very X-Men meets Heroes.

Ghosted // Fox: Sundays at 8:30pm
This one is actually part supernatural and part comedy. Starring comedy show veterans, Adam Scott and Craig Robinson, Ghosted is about a cynical skeptic and a genius true believer trying to uncover a mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race.

Dramas
Mindhunter // Netflix: Debuts Oct. 13
This one is not for the faint of heart, which is probably why it's on Netflix. Jonathan Groff stars in this show, which is nothing like anything else he's previously done (as he's known for playing Kristoff in Frozen and the funny king in Hamilton and one of many musically talented kids on Glee). In Mindhunter, he plays an FBI agent who teaches police how to deal with serial killers by actually interviewing them. Basically, it gets creepy.

I'm really hooked on "Gifted". The first two episodes have been amazing. I loved the first episode of "The Mayor" but the second episode was a dud. I will give it another try though. I also like "Kevin Probably Saves The World" although the "universe" referrals drive my husband crazy! He thinks it's too new age and would prefer if they said "god" instead. I just tell him to take a chill pill and accept that its a comedy. :) The other two I never heard of, but now I have to check out "Ghosted".
ReplyDeleteI was out watching Blade Runner 2049 last night so I didn't see the second episodes, but I'll have to give them a watch today. I did see the second episode of Gifted and it's still intriguing me so that's a good start.
DeleteSaw the second episode of The Mayor today -- actually quite liked it.
DeleteI've actually been cutting back on television watching so I haven't even heard of some of these shows. The only new show that I've been into is The Good Doctor because it's based on a Korean drama that I watched and i'm curious as to how closely they will be following the original.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I didn't put The Good Doctor on here because I didn't think I would like it, but I actually do like it so far. But they are based in San Jose on this version, which is weird because I live in San Jose. Although their San Jose doesn't look anything like my San Jose, lol.
DeleteOoooo...I'm definitely gonna check out MindHunter. Sounds like my kind of show, plus Jonathan....:D And that Kevin Saves The World looks really interesting. I saw a few of the interviews Jason did, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy!
ReplyDeleteYea, I'm liking Jason Ritter a lot. Looking forward to MindHunter when it premieres!
DeleteOh My Gosh! I will have to add these to the list now. I am a total TV junkie and I was definitely planning to watch Kevin Saves The World, The Good Doctor, and The Young Sheldon. I DVR my shows so I will binge watch them over the weekend :D

I'm actually pretty into Kevin Saves and The Good Doctor (even though it says it takes place in San Jose but looks nothing like San Jose). Not gonna lie, I am not at all interested in Young Sheldon, but that's because I don't fancy Big Bang Theory.
DeleteThis season is packed with really good new shows! I have The Gifted on our PVR, I'm waiting to record a few more episodes so I can binge watch it lol. Star Trek is another show I am so excited about. PS: Notorious wasn't all bad :)
ReplyDeleteLol, I really, really, really wanted to like Notorious. :)
DeleteI am loving Ghosted and Gifted so far! Fall 2017 TV is looking pretty good!

I thought the second episode of Ghosted was better than the first. And I'm still into The Gifted. Happy you like them as well!
DeleteI have heard about the Mayor but have not seen anything yet. I don't think I'll watch The Good Doctor but I may watch Mindhunter, seems interesting. Will have to watch some others online since I hardly anything aside from Netflix lately. Have you seen Travellers or The Five? Just watched those a bit ago. <3
ReplyDeleteThe Five on Netflix? OMG, I loved it. I hope it has a second season. It was so good. I really was confused as to what happened to little Danny the entire time. The ending was quite satisfying.
DeleteI'm loving The Gifted so far! And I have plans to binge Mindhunters as soon as it's released!
ReplyDeletesame and same!
DeleteAmazing post!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!

I've heard good things about "The mayor" but am most curious about "The Gifted". I love anything in the Heroes vein (I thought they were thinking of rebooting that too!)
ReplyDeleteSo I think they did a Heroes reboot last fall (or the fall before). I loved the original Heroes but the reboot wasn't very good.
DeleteUmmm, Mindhunter sounds right up my alley- I love creepy shows!

One more day and then we can binge our little hearts out! :)
DeleteI started The Good Place when it was on Netflix. I thought the first episode was really cheesy but then I started getting into the actual plot of it. We're kinda hooked on it now!
ReplyDeleteYea I wasn't sure it was going to last at first (same way I felt about the first episode of Parks & Rec years ago -- best show ever). But The Good Place is super funny. I love it.
DeleteJust heard about 'The Mayor' on Wendy Williams show few days ago and will definitely love to watch that. Hopefully I will find it some where with me being in the UK. Ha!!
