Home Tour: Bedroom Living

Here are a few photos of my bedroom since I've been bitten by the decorating bug. I wish I had before and after photos so you could see how bland my place used to look and compare it to these current images. I used to have this thing about only decorating the main living area because I never stayed in a place for more than a year. But that has now changed, so the bedroom was the next room to get a face lift.

The open rectangular lamps and the candle holders were bought on sale from Target for like $35 total (for all four). I printed out this photograph of Mila Kunis (because I absolutely think it's one of the best images ever) and put it in one of those frames from Michaels.
A neighbor was selling this Crate & Barrel bookshelf for $25 so I bought two of them and am using one to display some of my favorite things like these Jeffrey Campbell sandals, 3.1 Phillip Lim mini satchel, some mags and this cute motion picture plaque I picked up while popping tags at Goodwill.
The bottom half of the bookshelf displays my go-to Parisa G by Guess wedges and Forever 21 heart stud flats, along with some of my jewelry and sunglasses. Quick fact of the day: There are three different decorations in my home that say "Live, Love, Laugh" and I only bought one of them. The other two were gifted, but it seems to be the home decor catchphrase so I'll display it.
I used to keep my nail polishes in the bathroom, but this little nook turned out to be the perfect place for them. The box came with a bag that my grandmother-in-law gifted me many moons ago, and the polishes are displayed by brand. I tried to do it by color, but the uneven bottle heights were driving me crazy!
Hats and scarves hang on the side of the closet door or on a hook from the door. I confess, I took all the space in the master bedroom walk-in closet and made the hubs use the closet in the guest room. I really need the space though, and he doesn't mind so it's OK. My shoes are placed on the shelves on top of the clothes and on the floor beneath the clothes. I should seriously consider selling more of my shoes. Let me know if you wear between a size 6.5 and 7 and want some shoes!

Do you keep your shoe boxes? I used to keep them and put my shoes on top until I ran out of space, so I just kept the two boxes that I loved the most. Now they've come in handy for stacking clutches.
Last, but not least, the bed itself. These tree branch stickers came from my favorite place, Target, and used to be in the living room until the hubs said they'd look great in the bedroom--and they sure do. The framed artwork was gifted to us by my mother-in-law and I love the symmetry they create over the his and hers nightstands.
What do you think of my bedroom decor? Decorated lately?

  5. It looks charming, I love the images of the books and how you arranged your shoes in the closet. I used to keep all of my shoe boxes until I ran out of space, I only keep several now, but they are great for storing clutch bags like you said.
