To celebrate my birthday early, a couple of us went and saw Cirque du Soleil Luzia at the big top down the street from my house. It was actually a really fun show. I've seen a few of their shows already (La Nouba, Amaluna, The Beatles Love, etc) and I'm usually more into the permanent shows as opposed to the touring one, but Luzia was actually quite good.
We also attended a '90s Bar Crawl in San Francisco. Although the event wasn't well organized, it was still really fun because everyone showed up in their best '90s attire -- complete with plaid, acid wash denim, antennae cell phones and slap bracelets. And the bars played a lot of good '90s music with a fabulous '90s karaoke venue. Did you catch any of this on my InstaStory before it went away? In case you're wondering, I dressed up as Dionne from Clueless.
But let me share this H&M look with you muses too. I saw this side laced pencil skirt and totally fell in love with it. I adored the fact that it could be worn high waisted with a thick, ribbed jersey detail. Basically, that means it gives you some leeway if you're having a carb-heavy day, lol. So when I perused the site further and saw that there was a matching side laced top -- and with a mock turtleneck -- I knew that I needed it to complete the look.
By the way, this is what I wore to The Makeup Date event last month. I wore the pieces as a set, but each item would look fabulous worn with other outfits, like the top with a pair of chic leather pants or the skirt with an oversize fuzzy sweater.
FYI -- if you like my hairstyle, these are called curly crochet faux locs. If you're in the Bay Area, then see Shawni, my hairstylist, who has been doing my hair in all kinds of fab styles for more than three years. And the negative space mani is provided by Incoco. I've been wearing their nail strips all winter. This particular one is called Headliner.
