Mad for Plaid: Styling Plaid Mules and Coats

Parts of this outfit might look familiar, and that's because you've seen a couple of these pieces on the blog in the past. The bell sleeve sweater is from October 2016 and the embroidered skinny jeans are from March 2017. Now they've come together as stylish backdrops to the main event of this look: the plaid coat and plaid mules!

I saw a blogger wearing these mules on Instagram earlier this month and my first thought was, wow, these plaid print mules are so cute -- they must be ridiculously expensive. So I was surprised to find out that they actually came from Forever 21. Aren't you surprised? Since I'm still feeling plaid and mules, I went ahead and scooped up these under $25 shoes. I know not everyone is into mules, but what do you guys think of them? I should also mention that I tried to style this plaid coat and these plaid mules with flared ankle jeans, but I have yet to attain the right pair.

And last week I did a two-day juice cleanse. Two of the longest days of my life, lol. The first day I had a headache, but that was gone by the second day. Do you know what didn't go away? The hunger. I was hungry all the time on the cleanse -- and I only did it for two days. I could probably have done a third day, but I don't know how people do it for any longer than that. I had to give up my coffee chai! I should mention that I didn't go on a scale, so I don't know if I lost any weight while on the cleanse. If I did, I probably gained it back after going off the cleanse. But it wasn't about losing weight so much as it was about ridding my body of all the crap I put in it while traveling. I can tell you that the first meal I ate after the cleanse almost made me feel like throwing up. I could hardly finish it. So I decided that meant that I should consider smaller portions going forward (even though my stomach is back to normal now).

After a juice cleanse, what would be the first thing you would eat?

  1. These mules are so cute I saw a similar one I liked, but it was over $100. Yes cleanses are a no-no for me, maybe I will change my mind one day.

    1. I added my thoughts on that to the post now. But basically, it made my stomach feel smaller. But I'm not sure it helped anything. Maybe I should have done it for a longer amount of time.

  9. I don't think juice cleanses are really cleansing anything. Eating well and listening to your body's needs are probably your best bet. Why be hungry and have a headache all day for no reason? Hope you are feeling better now at least!
Love the fun mules, great color and print!

I happen to love juice cleanse, although I don't know why because the benefits are short lived, purely due to my lack of discipline :D

  26. I love this outfit on You and need some mules in my life. So I will be working the after season sales. After a cleanse I would want some ackee, Saltfish and roast breadfruit. This is always a trophy meal for me.
