Rock, Rock, Color Block - With Accessories

color-blocking-designersWho would have known that the idea of sewing blocks of differently colored fabrics together would become such a hot look in 2011? Color blocking has been seen all over the models on fashion runways and the bloggers on the streets.

The idea is really simple. Take one vibrant color and pair it with an equally vibrant, yet different color. You can do this with tops and skirts or dresses and leggings. Things start to get interesting once you add in a splash of a third color, say with an outerwear item like a bright blue blazer or a spicy red trench.

color-blocking-accessoriesAnd I know that by now we're all very familiar with color blocking, and some of us have even ventured into the world of color blocking on our blogs.

But I've already checked my closet--nothing but nudes and warm tones in my lookbook. So I'm still working on it.

In the meantime, take a look at some great examples of color blocking with clothes, accessories and even shoes!

I wouldn't recommend pairing all of these together in one ensemble.

    I love colour blocking. I've been doing it since I was a little girl as I love mixing up colours. To make sure I don't cause what I call " colour riotness " I stick with two colours , maximum three and also make sure that it's no too over powering.

    oh Lawd I almost missed out on the bag giveway ( where was I?)..am on it!! lool

    Love these accessories! Like you, I don't have a ton to work with then it comes to color blocking, but I have been looking for some color-blocked accessories such as these! I actually put color-blocked accessories as one of my 5 Must Haves guest post a couple weeks ago! Love them!

    Absolutely adore this concept. I am a huge fan of color and I always want to get the same items in as many colors as possible. No better way than to "Colorblock"! Too fun!

    Like you my closet is filled with neutrals, so unless black and white is colorblocking I'm out of luck! Actually I do have a red skirt and if I can find a purple t-shirt somewhere for not too much money I might be able to color block at least my clothes. The shoes, well maybe.

    I love the idea of color blocking with nudes...it's a realy fresh take on the trend. I love the coor blocking at the Gucci show as well. It's crazy how something so simple and once-overlooked has exploded into this mega trend.
