Summer is approaching and it seems like everyone and their momma is getting married. Someone in my office is getting married in June, one of my good friends is tying the knot this May, and one of my best friends is attending a wedding in the coming months.
With all this wedding talk, it only made sense to do a little feature on bridesmaids dresses for any of you who will be in, or knows someone who will be in, a bridal party soon.
For my wedding almost two years ago (wow! really?) I had my three bridesmaids stick to one color and then choose whatever dress they wanted to wear. But I was more laid back than most bridezillas brides, and this was before Vera Wang was offering up organza bridesmaid dresses at David's Bridal in her White by Vera Wang collection.
In the past on the Muse, I've done a movie review on Bridesmaids, I've written about wedding Manolos, and I've even mentioned this Vera Wang collection in fashion headlines, but I haven't really gone into detail.
So let's get down to business:
The length of the dress will most likely depend on where the wedding is taking place and what the bride fancies. If you're into longer looks, then try out one of these Vera Wang frocks, like the Draped Satin dress or the Chiffon Column dress, both for $168. You can find them in colors like amethyst, champagne or midnight and from sizes 0 to 26.For short dresses, these first two are fairly new to the collection and are perfect for a summer wedding. The Bobbin Net dress ($168) has a very trendy illusion neckline, while the Hammered Satin dress ($158) has an appealing bow draping across one shoulder. The One Shoulder Organza ($198) has been my favorite for about a year now, and I don't think I'll ever get over it. When you see it in the variety of colors that it comes in, it's clear to see that this dress--and some of the others--could easily be worn for any occasion.Fancy fashion soiree? Theater tickets? Girls night out? Yea, I think I could rock this.

These are gorgeous! My bridesmaid is picking out her own dress but none of these sadly cover up the back - she wants her back to be covered. :(
ReplyDeleteThey are unconventional, so yes I really like them and I have no weddings in sight unless I decide to divorece my hubby and marry another one!!!

I'm in two weddings this summer. In one of the weddings we are wearing Vera. We tried majority of the dresses above on. Surprisingly most were very unflattering. However the dress we chose (not pictured above) is amazing. The bride selected this dress, http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Short-Draped-Satin-Dress-with-Sash-VW360017_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-White-by-Vera-Wang-Bridesmaids (in moss green).

I really like that bridesmaid dresses seem to be taking a turn to more of an all-occasion formal dress. I can envision all of the dresses you've posted being worn to a wedding or to another fun, formal event :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. Glad I've discovered yours now.

FINALLY! The one shoulder organza bit is one I would ACTUALLY wear again... How many times have we had to buy a dress that really, well, it's ultimately a $200 Goodwill donation? You should post this to the WeddingStub (write them and offer the post). If I were planning a wedding, I'd want to see something like this for my girls.

Girl, I did not know Vera Wang connected with David Bridal. I think it's awesome :) I love all the designs. That one shoulder is to die for.

LOVE the one shoulder organza dress! I actually plan on wearing it as my wedding dress in October. We will have a simple and fun ceremony/party and I thought this dress would be perfect! And to top it all off, my four year daughter told me I looked like a rose when she saw me in it for the first time! So sweet!
