What I Loved: March 2017

Is it weird that one of the things that I loved this month I can't even wear? And one of the other things I wonder if I should get in every color? Come see what I loved in March right before we enter into the full spring vibes of April.
I've actually been into what I like to call the modern-day hoop earring for a while. They add a chic sophistication to the old school hoops. Being that I don't have pierced ears, I've never worn legit earrings in my life, but I've come across some unique ones time and time again that make me want to take the ear piercing plunge. And these hoops with their fused bars, spikes and geometric Noir cutouts are calling my name. If you're liking any of these, shop them below.

I'm no stranger to mules. I feel like I talk about them all the time. I mentioned how much I loved flat ones almost exactly a year ago; I featured a couple different ones in my spring picks earlier this month; and I've worn my Jeffrey Campbell ones and my Zara ones on here before as well. And right now I'm particularly into floral mules because I love the ease of them and, of course, the floral designs for spring. If you haven't given flat mules a chance yet, I recommend that you try them out this season. Be sure to try them on in person and each mule fits differently and some are more comfortable than others. They can't be too big or too small. Shop my current favorite floral mules below.

On my last trip, I picked up the book The Girl With All The Gifts, which is a novel about a fungus that has changed almost everyone into zombies. One day, scientists and teachers meet a girl who seems to be immune to the fungus and try to find out if there's something about her that can save humanity. I know it sounds like just a zombie book, but it's truly much more than that. Sort of in the way that The Walking Dead isn't really a show about zombies anymore. After finishing the book, I watched the movie (set in England) to compare the two. Although the movie was very close to the book, the book was definitely better. When books are turned into movies, do you like to read first and then watch later? Or do you just prefer one over the other? For me, it's usually the book, but I made an exception for Big Little Lies that I talked about last week, as I decided to watch the show because I have no desire to read the book any time soon.

Have you ever done a paint nite? I did one for the first time a couple weeks ago and had a fabulous time. It's really a great way to spend a night out. And it beats the usual dinner and drinks outing. I was able to spend a couple hours doing something creative that I actually enjoy like painting. And yea, wine is also involved. And at the end of the event you come out with something like a work of art, lol. There are many places all over that offer paint nites, so I'd recommend it!

  11. I so love modern hoops and I've been wanting to get a pair of mules but I just can't pick one and I don't want my foot to look weird in them. I already have the worst luck with slides :/

  12. I have done paint nights in the past couple and they are a lot of fun, I think more cities are hosting them now, which is great. I've not worn hoop earrings in ages! :-) Great March favourites!
