Revamping the Power Suit Look for Women

Had a very relaxed weekend spent not doing much at all. But one thing I did do was binge watch Suits. Granted, there are seven seasons of this show, so I'm only on season two, but so far so good. Let's just chalk it up to the Meghan Markle effect. So since I've been watching Suits, I thought I might as well wear a suit -- a power suit -- in today's post. Also, this gives me yet another reason to wear these mules.

Because of the structure of this double breasted coat, you could easily go laid back and pair it with shorts, or consider rocking it with a long skirt and some booties. And power suits have come a long way since the 1980s. Gone are the squared off padded shoulders and the loose fit. These days, power suits tend to have a more feminine look of matching separates and ruched sleeves. And I have no problem wearing these chic Baldwin jeans with my look.

And even though I'm feeling this plaid coat, my favorite part of this revamped power suit look is the addition of the heeled mules. I'm always into comfy shoes, but any time I wear something with a heel (even a kitten heel), I feel slightly more powerful. Do you ever get that feeling? How would you wear a power suit?

Check out a few of my favorite heeled mules below!

    1. hahaha, that's hilarious. I'm still on season 2 so it's still pretty good. But I can imagine that these procedural story lines can get old, fast.

  12. Suits was a much better show in the beginning. It has totally jumped the shark in later seasons and we stopped watching. There's going to be a K-drama remake of it and I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing how they spin the story.

  13. I was wondering how many people would start watching suits after Meghan's engagement was announced, lol. I've watched it since the beginning, it was sort of the last USA original show before they went completely dark with their story telling. But if it serves as inspiration for this fabulous outfit, than keep watching, the clothes only get better!
