Are you ready for a summer reading list? I know some people who are starting book clubs or who are traveling and in need of a good plane ride read. All of these are books that I've read lately -- except for the last one on the list, which I'm about to start soon. So check out the post and see if you'd like to add any of these to your summer list. And be sure to check out my What Did You Think of This Book? post from last summer for even more options.
// The Widow -- Fiona Barton ♥♥♥ // Pretty Baby -- Mary Kubica ♥♥♥ //
// Dark Matter -- Blake Crouch ♥♥♥♥♥ //
No lie, this is one of the best books I've ever read. As far as non-classics go, I put it up there right behind Gone Girl (best book ever). Every time I would read a few chapters from this book, I would literally gasp out loud. I made the hubs read it when I was finished and he loved it, too. If there's one book on this list that you plan on reading, let it be this one. Although, I would also really recommend Ready Player One, The Butterfly Garden, The Girl with All the Gifts & When She Was Bad.

If you're into more of a sci-fi genre, then this is the book for you. It also does a great job of incorporating pop culture TV, movie and video game references from the 1980s, which makes it more relatable and fun. Please read it before the movie version comes out. You'll totally love it and probably see some similarities to Steve Jobs and Apple.

So many books on this list have or will have movie counterparts. You might remember when I talked about the movie version of this book back in March. I would still recommend it, but start with the book first.

// When She Was Bad -- Tammy Cohen ♥♥♥♥♥ // NEXT UP: Dying for Christmas -- Tammy Cohen //
Since When She Was Bad was one of my fave reads of June, so I knew I had to pick up another book by the same author for my next choice. This could go either way. I've read the same author more than once a few times: Mary Kubica was hit or miss, but I've loved everything that Gillian Flynn has ever written, so we'll have to wait and see.

I finally saw the movie The Girl With All The Gifts and loved it, so I wanna read the book now. And also The Girl On The Train just coz everyone who's read it loved it:) Currently reading just mainly Korean and Japanese language books lately, so I'm really out of the loop when it comes to fiction.
ReplyDeleteI love that you keep up with reading and always love your list of reading! I need to get better at it! All of these sound so intriguing!

That's a fantastic reading list! I'm trying to finish a Rich People Problems right now. It's so fun but I just haven't been able to find the time to get through it.
ReplyDeleteOMG - I needed this. Dark Matter is next on my list. Have heard SO much about it. Can't wait. You have read a lot lately - I am impressed :D ... and envious!

Hey Jessica! So I liked The Last One, especially the first 80% of it. It did a great job of "making fun" of the reality TV tropes you'd see on a show like Survivor. I do feel like too much time was spent on dragging the journey out and then rushed on coming to a conclusion. But overall, a good read.
DeleteSO many good reads here, girl! How do you manage to read them all? I can't even finish one book, I'm so busy. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI used to love to read, but now I just can't find the time to do it. Although the first 3 books sounds super interesting to me.

DON'T MISS: FLORAL ROMPER & ICE CREAM
I'm always so interested when people put Girl on The Train on a reading list because I preferred the movie to the book (actually found the book quite boring).
ReplyDeleteThis list looks great though! I'm currently listening to The Couple Next Door on Audiobook and really enjoying it. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen, which is always a plus for me.
