Muse Missteps & Mistakes

Never make the mistake of not packing flats. Whenever you have to spend an entire day in (semi-comfy) heels, you should always do your feet a solid and bring a pair of flats you can change into at the end of the day. Or even a pair of comfy Crossfit shoes or sneakers--whatever floats your boat--if it means your feet won't hate you in the morning.

No matter how "comfortable" you say your dreadfully fabulous heels are, they will never be as comfortable as flats. Never! And I don't ever want to be that idiot (again) walking around barefoot on the dirty city streets like a complete train wreck. So gross.
I'm freaking terrible when it comes to applying eye shadow and lipstick, which is why you don't see much of it on the blog. Either my shadow isn't pigmented enough and it doesn't look like I'm wearing anything, or I'm on the other side of the spectrum and the eye shadow is way too much, making me look like an accidental clown.

Lipstick is no better. I've always been into lip glosses and that won't ever change because lipsticks tend to make me look like I'm wearing fake lips. Bold colors over plump, and trust me, I don't really need any help in the lip plumping area.

I have a bad habit of wearing a handful of the sames clothes in my closet over and over again. Therefore, a have a ton of pieces that only see the light of day on special occasions, when they're in season, or when I feel bad and want to give them a spin. Because of this, I will some times take something from the back of the closet and put it on only to notice that it now has closet smell.

This is clearly caused by having a closet that's stuffed to the brim. So the moral of this story is to air out the clothes that you don't wear often in advance of wearing them, or keep some potpourri in your closet for the rare occurrence when you decide to break out the crop top in December. Or simply get rid of some of your shit.
If you don't know how to pronounce something, or you think you're pronouncing it correctly, but aren't quite sure, just Google 'how to pronounce..." and a YouTube link will say the name for you. Or you might even be able to hear it said in a Vine video.

I used to say all sorts of brand names incorrectly, i.e., Hermes and Miu Miu, but now I've figured it out thanks to Google. The same can be done for social media brands. Don't say the brand name incorrectly when you're talking to someone who works for the brand--that's just foolish. Let Google be your homeboy.

  1. I agree with the flats, I've worn boots and by the end of the day my feet hurt so badly I would have cut them off if I had to go on any further. My flats felt like pillows when I put them on. And I have the same problem as you with eyeshadows and lipsticks. Eyeshadows rarely show up on my skin, or if they do it's really light even though I put masses on. Urban Decay though is quite good, it's the one brand that I've found that I can wear the eyeshadows and it shows up and it lasts long too. Proper lipsticks make me look like I got hit in the mouth a few times, hahaha. I can never seem to find one that suits right. So, I stick to lipglosses. And I'm in the process of clearing out my closet of some things that I have never worn. Super post doll, have a great weekend :)

  2. I was usually only a lip gloss girl, but recently have been really getting into lipsticks the matte ones! I think when you find what works for you that's all that matters. And, flats nearby are always a must for me! I keep a foldable pair in my handbag sometimes. :)

I done that so many times lol and i have learnt my lesson. Never again! I move around with flats now. Oh goodness when it comes to pronouncing Italian or French designers brands I say sH*T! What a blessing! And about shoes & travel. Thankfully I took flats w/me on my last getaway & they saved my feet. :)

  12. Look at all those shoes! They are wonderful and you look beautiful. I agree, always pack flats even if you don't think you will use them because they come in handy. It's happen to me before, and I actually had to go an buy another pair of flats, when I have so many to choose from.

  16. Great tips Cheryl!! I totally agree with you on the flats. I LOVE my heels, and I have regretted my shoe decision many times. Now I never travel without flats, no matter how much I don't think I'll need them.

  19. Thanks for the tips. I only wear flats and low heels shoes. My feet are happy majority of the time. I think lipstick makes my lips look fuller/thicker/plump/not cute. I just stay away from makeup. Chapstick or lip balm is my friend. :-)

    Have a great weekend!

  20. Those were some good tips, I think we all make same mistakes, but I never think about them like you, I think I'll continue to pronounce some words incorrectly and forget my flats at home :))))

  31. this is super super nice post for me!
The shoes is very true, I just had a bad ache on my feet now from partying last night and my toes were bent big time wearing high heels. I am the same with make-ups, not so good at it, but recently, loving the usefulness of lipstick on the other hand. You have such nice arrangement of closet I could tell! It is always a good idea to hang your clothes around so you can see them all and gives you wide range of selection but still, spaces is not enough and we have to dig in and see what else we have not worn. I so agree! Thanks for a Google reminder on the brand names.:)
